NGSA Stampede (1) vs. Scarborough (3)
A much more solid game for the girls and against a far better
opponent. The girls were more awake, their passing better
and all around play-making much better.
Melissa P held up strong in net making numerous saves and
warding off attackers. Alexandra, Katie and Beth all had
very good games.
The Stampede took it right to Scarborough, with Ashley and
Michelle both getting off solid early shots. Scarborough
came back with a goal midway through the first half, but the
Stampede defense held well.
In the second half, center defender Melissa A went out with
a pulled muscle. She was ably replaced by Amy.
A late game free kick from just outside the 18 yard box led
to Scarborough's second goal. The kick was high and to the
corner so there was nothing the wall or Melissa P could do
about it.
Overall a fine performance by the girls.
