Courtney picked up the next one and the final goal was a very nice play in which Michelle M sent a perfect leading pass to Alexandra who broke free and sent a good shot under the keeper, making it look easier than it was.

Game Summary for

NGSA Stampede (3) vs. Bedford (6)

The inevitable first tough loss. The Stampede looked a little out of sorts at the start of the game, but the girls were hustling hard and made a good game of it.

Michelle L started in net and put in a solid half given the number of shots that came in. Bedford put up 2 quick goals before Courtney got one for the Stampede. Bedford countered with another goal, making the score 1-3.

Aimee replaced Michelle L in net and was bombarded with shots. She had some very nice kick saves and an absolutely brilliant tip save that kept a high shot from getting in.

In the second half Bedford picked up another 3 goals before the Stampede began to counter. Courtney picked up her second goal and Alexandra picked up her second goal in 2 games. This was one for the highlight film. Ashley sent the ball across to Courtney who quickley sent the ball to Alexandra who sent it into the back of the net, making the final score 3-6.

Game Summary for

NGSA Stampede (3) vs. P.A.C. (8)

The Stampede faced P.A.C. today and had a rough go of it. The girls seemed a little out of sorts today, but did have a few flashes of brilliance.

Nicole spent the first half in net and saw a number of solid shots (the P.A.C. grls could *definitely* shoot hard).

The Stampede started things off with what can only be described as "the right way" to move the ball and score. Ashley had the ball on the right side, sent a perfect centering pass to Courtney who one touched it to Amy (wide open) who drilled a shot past the P.A.C. keeper. Outstanding play from all 3 girls on that one.

P.A.C. picked up 2 goals (one an accidental defensive deflection that Nicole couldn't get to) to take the lead before Ashley sent a high shot through the P.A.C. keeper's hands.

In the second half, Aimee took over the netminding duties and spent the half getting pounded with shots. She again made some great kick saves and played an all-around good game in net.

P.A.C. picked up the first 2 goals of the second half to take a lead they'd never lose.

Courtney picked up the final Stampede goal on a very smart play. The Stampede won a free kick after the P.A.C. keeper walked out of the box with the ball. As P.A.C. slowly came back to regroup, Courtney simply took the kick and drilled it past the keeper and sleeping P.A.C. defense.

P.A.C. picked up 4 more goals as the Stampede began to look a little more tired.

Similar to last week, the Stampede had no shortage of shooting chances with Courtney, Ashley and Amy taking some great shots that were either stopped by the keeper, a little high or a little wide. Very good shots though.

Game Summary for

NGSA Stampede (3) vs. Bedford Classics (11)

A tough game against a far better opponent. The Bedford Classics took a quick 0-3 lead before Michelle L picked up the first of 3 Stampede goals. Nicole spent the first half in net and was peppered with shots throughout the half. The Stampede were down 1-8 by the end of the half.

Michelle L took over in net for the second half and faced quite a few shots herself. The Classics picked up 2 more goals before Alex took a long thrown clearance from Michelle L in net and put her shot past the Classics keeper after which the Classics picked up 2 more goals.

In the last couple minutes the Classics were piling on as they took their keep out of net to be a field player and pushed all 6 girls forward against the Stampede. With only a second on the clock, Courtney got the ball and shot from midfield as the buzzer sounded as the ball ended up in the net.

Game Summary for

NGSA Stampede (2) vs. Bedford Classics (11)

Another tough game against a solid opponent and with a few of the girls missing. Nicole spent the first half in net and faced numerous shots.

Both sides held things pretty even for almost the first 20 minutes. The Classics did have posession advantage, but they weren't scoring. Almost 20 minutes into the game the Classics picked up their first goal. The Stampede quickly equalized when Kari fed the ball up to Courtney, who passed it to Michelle M who 1-touched it back to Courtney in the center. Courtney sent a first time shot right past the Classics keeper.

The last 5 minutes of the half didn't go the way of the Stampede as the Classics piled on 3 more goals.

Aimee and Katie split time in net during the second half. This game Nicole a chance to avenge the 4 goals scored on her in the first have...and boy did she work at it. The Classics picked up the first goal of the half to make if 1-5, but the Stampede came right back when Courtney fed Nicole and she drilled a shot past the Classics keeper.

Unfortunately, the Stampede couldn't buy another goal. Not for lack of trying though. Ashley, Aimee, Courtney, Michelle M and Nicole also had great shots...just wide of high.

The Classics picked up another 6 goals in the second half to make the final score 2-11.

Game Summary for

NGSA Stampede (5) vs. P.A.C. (2)

A snowstorm left PAC a little short, but they still had some talented players. The Stampede were short a couple players, but they came to play and they played well.

Michelle L and Nicole split the first half in net. Both did well and didn't let anything past them in the first half.

Courtney picked up the lone goal of the half off a nice feed from Amy. Kari, Aimee and Kate held strong on defense.

In the second half, Nicole started in net and was later replaced by Michelle L. Another solid half for both.

Courtney figured in on the second goal as she fed a nice pass to Alexandra who took a solid shot and got it past the PAC keeper to put the Stampede up 2-0.

The third Stampede goal was one of the best of the game. Courtney fought hard for the ball, won it and fed Michelle L a quick pass. Michelle L one touched a shot into the back of the net.

Courtney and Michelle L teamed up once more for the fourth goal as Courtney got the ball and fed Michelle L, who was waiting alone at the other end of the field for an easy 1-on-1 with the keeper and Michelle put it away.

Michelle M set up the next goal when she made a great pass while in very tight quarters with a couple PAC defenders around her. The pass found Amy who broke free and sent a solid shot into the back of the net to put the Stampede up 5-0.

PAC picked up their only two goals late in the game, but the Stampede held strong for the win.

Game Summary for

NGSA Stampede (0) vs. Bedford (4)

Michelle and Aimee split the game in net.

The first 20 minutes of this 25 minute tournament game was the best the Stampede have played Bedford. Although Bedford had their chances, the defense of Melissa and Kari, along with Aimee and Kate, kept most everything away from Michelle L.

Bedford did pick up an early goal, but it was an iffy one. The ball hit the post and came out but the referee called it a goal.

By about the 15th minute, the Stampede were really pressuring Bedford with Ashley, Michelle, Nicole and Amy each getting chances. They just couldn't get the ball past the Bedford keeper.

Around the 20th minute, Kari was 2 against 1, got turned and a Bedford player was in alone and scored their second goal. At this point the Stampede seemed a little down and Bedford picked up 2 more quick goals.

While the last couple minutes didn't reflect it, the girls played a great game, with everyone having a solid outing.
