Merrimack Jamboree

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. Hampstead Hurricanes (3)

The Cobras started the Merrimack Jamboree with a game against the Hampstead Hurricanes, an excellent passing team that worked well together.

The Cobras, a very different team from last year's U-12 team with many players who have not played together before, were still working out the kinks in their playing style.

The two teams appeared somewhat evenly matched, with the edge going to Hampstead on shots.

Hampstead got on the board first with a solid shot past Peter.

While the score was still 0-1 in Hampstead's favor, a Hampstead forward broke through with Mike on his tail. Miscommunication between Peter in net and Mike led to Peter charging to the edge of the 18-yard box in an attempt to clear the ball. An almost collision...and the ball was loose, but the Hampstead forward could not get it in the net.

Randy came back on a number of occasions to stop or interfere with breakaways that Hampstead had.

Hampstead got their second goal after Imad managed to stop an attacking Hampstead player just to the side of our net, but his attempt to play the ball back to Peter in net was intercepted by a Hampstead player and put in the back of the net.

Hampstead managed another goal to put them up 0-3.

With only a few minutes left in the game, Randy broke through the defense from his midfield position for a 1-on-1 with the Hampstead keeper. Randy drilled a shot on net, but the charging keeper made the save.

Hampstead immediately countered, bringing the ball all the way down the field and readying for a shot, but Imad was there to deflect it wide of the net across the end line.

Shortly after that, with only seconds left in the game, Randy broke though again off passes from Vinnie and Timmer. Using his excellent speed, Randy got past 2 Hampstead defenders and sent an solid shot past the keeper for the Cobras only goal, ending the game 1-3.

Overall, John and Randy did well on defense and Peter played well in net. Vinnie, Matt and Timmer looked good up front and put together a few strings of nice passes.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (0) vs. Derry Eagles (3)

The second game of the tournament was against a Division I Derry team and it showed. They were a strong team and very well organized.

This was the toughest of the three games the Cobras played in the tournament. On only a couple occasions did the Cobras managed to get the ball out of their own end. The majority of the game was played in the Cobras end with Nathan getting tested time and time again in net.

The Cobras defense did well to clear the ball when they could, but Derry's midfield and defense (pulled up to midfield) continually sent the ball back into the Cobras end.

Nathan did a fine job to stop the first 3 quick shots from Derry.

On Derry's first corner kick, the ball curved from the far side and almost went into the net on it's own.

On Derry's next shot, Nathan stopped it but could not get a handle on it and a Derry player was there to tap it into the net to make the score 0-1.

Shortly after that goal, Derry had a corner kick from the far side. The ball was sent into the middle of the 6-yard box and headed beautifully by a Derry player to put them up 0-2.

Towards the end of the game, a Cobras player fouled a Derry player inside the 18-yard box. This led to a penalty kick that Nathan never had a chance on and the game ended with Derry up 0-3.

The games in the first day of the tournament are 20 minutes long.

The Cobras first game of the tournament was against the eventual champions, a Northboro U-14 division I team. This was an exceptional team that was a division higher and a year older that the Cobras.

Northboro simply outplayed the cobras for the entire 20 minute game. The ball left the Cobras end on only a couple occasions.

Although they were outmatched, the Cobras held strong for the first 8 or s minutes, with Peter playing exceptional in net and shutting down Northboro. The Cobras defense held firm for as long as it could, with Josh H coming up big on a few occasions and Peter making 14 saves in net.

Matt put on a brief juggling exibition as he used his body and his juggling to keep a Northboro player at bay. Although it was brief, it was quite nice.

Northboro's first goal was on a deflecting from a corner kick that was sent right into the 6-yard box.

They came back and scored again, using their excellent passing to break through the Cobras midfield and defense.

Late in the game Josh H fouled a Northboro player just outside the 18-yard box. The free kick was strong, but Peter got to it and made a good save.

Towards the end of the game a Northboro player weaved through a couple Cobras defenders and had Peter 1-on-1. Peter did his best but was beaten, leaving the final score at 0-3 in favor of Northboro.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. Hudson (1)

At last, a U-13 team, a team the Cobras will likely play in the regular season - Hudson. And a team that had also been whomped by Northboro.

All last year the Cobras had Hudson's number, defeating them each time they played. Hopes were high for this game.

    Peter started in net again.

The Cobras played well in this game, a much more even game than the previous one.

The Cobras lone goal came early off a free kick by Erik. He sent it high and the keeper managed to get a hand on it but could not maintain control. Tyler was right there to knock the ball in and give the Cobras a 1-0 lead.

On a scary moment, a lone Hudson forward broke down the field and scored, but it was ruled offsides, so the Cobras kept their lead and kept up the pressure.

The Cobras got their next chance when Josh H sent a long pass up to Tyle to ripped off a shot, but it went wide.

Shortly after that the Cobras had another free kick from outside the 18-yard box. Erik took the kick and, aiming for the top right corner, sent it a little wide.

With the Cobras continuing their chances, Erik took the ball down the right side and sent a curling shot in that struck high on the side post and bounced into the 6-yard box. The Hudson defenders clearled the ball, preventing the Cobras from getting a follow shot.

Late in the game, Nathan replaced Peter in net.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (0) vs. Conval (4)

The Cobras third game of the day was against ConVal. Last year ConVal gave the Cobras a couple of their most competitive games.

The game began with play looking pretty even on both sides of the field. But ConVal got on the board first, scoring early in the game on a solid shot from the left side that Peter dove for and got a hand on, but could not stop. It was a very well placed shot and excellent effort by Peter.

After the goal, ConVal stepped up the pressure. Erik took a goal kick for Peter and sent an unfortunately low kick right to a ConVal player who was unmarked at the top of the 18-yard box. A quick shot and ConVal was up 0-2.

ConVal kept up the pressure, but the Cobras midfield and defense worked well to clear the ball. Lots of bad luck in this game as balls never quite fell the Cobras way.

Midway through the game a ConVal forward blew through a couple Cobras defenders, ending up 1-on-1 with Peter and sent a shot into the net to put ConVal up 0-3.

The Cobras had a couple runs down the field, but never managed to get off a shot on net.

Towards the end of the game Erik replaced Peter in net. He made a couple good saves before ConVal came in with a flurry of close range shots that Erik could only kick save. After a couple of those he ended up on the ground. He was unable to get to the ball and a ConVal player tapped the ball into the net to finalize the score at 0-4.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (4) vs. Hudson (0)

In the second day of the tournament, the games are now 50 minutes long. The Cobras first opponent was the team they tied yesterday, Hudson. The Cobras were ready to come out playing strong.

    Peter started in net.

The Cobras began well, passing very well, but with a little trouble controlling the ball.

The Cobras put up a total of 16 shots in this game, easily exceeding their totals in the previous 3 games.

Hudson managed an early run in, but Peter did a great job of getting there and putting and end to Hudson's chances.

Hudson came right back again after a long leading pass from one of the midfielders to a breaking forward who was 1-on-1 with Peter, but Josh H made a great run back to stop Hudson's chance.

The Cobras had a couple good early shots from Matt and one from Erik. Their first corner kick was a great ball from Timmer, but it went through everyone...Cobras players and Hudson's players.

The Cobras scored first when Josh H sent a good pass up to Tyler who bobbed and weaved with the ball for a bit, but got past a couple Hudson defenders and, alone against the keeper, sent a well aimed shot into the lower right corner.

The Cobras had several more good chances to score and ended up with a couple keeper saves and a couple wide shots.

The Cobras scored again on a rebound the Hudson keeper could not hang onto. Matt was there to send it into the net; 2-0.

The Cobras third goal was a pass from Tyler up to Timmer who got himself open near the top of the 18-yard box. He sent a shot over the keepers head and into the back of the net; 3-0.

In the second half, Peter remained in net, but Hudson replaced their very small keeper with a much larger player.

In a scary moment for the Cobras, Tyler fouled a Hudson player and the Cobras didn't set up quick enough for the quickly taken free kick, but Peter was ready and saved the shot.

There was quite a bit of excellent passing from the Cobras in the second half with a few more scoring chances.

The Cobras got a 4th goal when John sent up a nice pass to Vinnie who centered it to Nathan and Nathan ripped off a shot past the keeper to put the Cobras up 4-0.

Erik replaced Peter in net for the end of the second half. He had a couple saves.

John, Vinnie, Timmer, Matt and Tyler played very well up front, looking for each other and watching the field. They showed some impressive one touch passing.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (0) vs. NSC Cobras U-14 (6)

The Cobras went up against another U-14 team. This time it was the Nashua Soccer Club U-14 team. The Cobras hopes were high after coming off an excellent morning game against Hudson and knowing that the U-14 team had just completed a very long (2 overtimes + penalty kicks) game against Conval.

Though the U-14 team may have been tired, they were still fired up and played very well, peppering Peter with 17 shots, all but 2 of which were on net. Peter came up big with 10 saves.

The Cobras started out strong with some nice passing, but as time went on, they tired out.

The U-14 team's first goal was on a penalty kick that caught the edge of the post and barely made it in.

The U-14 team managed 6 goals in the 50 minute game. The Cobras continued their efforts, but the U-14 team was just too strong for them.

Late in the second half, Erik replaced Peter in net. The U-14 team had tired by this point and their shooting accuracy came down. There were 4 shots on Erik and he made 1 save and was scored on once on an odd shot that hit the post, deflected to the crossbar and went in behind Erik.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. Bedford (3)

The Cobras final game of the tournament was again the Bedford United. This is a team that the Cobras will likely face during the regular season.

By this point both Bedford and the Cobras were quite tired, both teams having just completed a full game against other teams.

Overall Bedford outplayed the Cobras and managed to outshoot the Cobras 22-2. Good goalkeeping from Peter and Josh H kept the score from getting out of hand.

Bedford scored first on an accident when Peter mishandled the ball on a slow shot and it got past him. A very unusual event for Peter.

Peter more than redeemed himself with a number of saves, including the save of the game. It came on a long hard shot from the left side. Peter dove to the side to deflect the shot just wide of the net. Definitely a save that made us all with we had a video camera!

Another long distance kick from Bedford went off the crossbar. As Peter went to move for it the deflection left him out of position and Greg moved in to cover for Peter and deflected the rebound shot made by Bedford. Excellent job by Greg.

The most unusual event was the sprinklers which came on during the game on a couple fields, sending parents scurring for cover. The players, however, just continued playing through the sprinklers. They were shut off, but came on again a couple minutes later. After a minute of playing through the sprinklers again, the went off for good.

Bedford came down on an almost breakaway and Peter came out to make a fantastic save, deflecting the ball away, but there were no defenders to help and a Bedford player sent the ball in to put them up 0-2.

Bedford scored again, putting them up 0-3 as the half ended.

During the halftime break, Josh R came running over to the parents side of the field for...a mini M&M fix...a rather unusual game time event. The parents witnessing this event hold great hopes that a second half sugar high will really get Josh going!

In the second half, Josh H replaced Peter in net.

Nathan stepped up big in the second half with his best defensive play of the tournament. He singlehandedly put a stop to a number of chances by Bedford.

The first good chance for the Cobras, and their first shot, came when Matt sent a good leading pass up for John to who got past a Bedford defender and sent a solid shot that the keeper managed to deflect out for a corner kick.

The lone Cobras goal was scored by David on a similar play to that of John...he took a pass from Tyler, outran the Bedford defense, and sent his shot past the keeper. This set the final score to 1-3 in favor of Bedford.

Regular Season

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (2) vs. Seacoast (0)

The Cobras started off their season well with a 2-0 win over Seacoast in Exeter.

The game appeared to start off well with both teams looking evenly matched, but the parents did have a little trouble seeing past the glare of Coach Demers Palm Tree shirt.

Peter started out in net and easily stopped the first 2 shots by Seacoast.

On one of the two best plays of the game, Seacoast took an early free kick that got past the Cobras defense. Peter was there to dive and make the same, but landed very hard. As a Seacoast player chipped the ball in towards the net from about 6 feet out, Josh R came across and deflected the ball away from the net...with his face. He escaped injury and managed a fantastic defensive cover for Peter.

On that play, Peter cut his elbow and was forced to leave the game for treatment. Josh H took over the net-minding duties.

After that play, Seacoast came on strong, putting a lot of pressure on the Cobras. Josh H came up with 3 well timed saves on 4 different shots (one was wide).

The Cobras got on the board when John beat a Seacoast defender to the ball and took it to the net 1-on-1 with the keeper. The Seacoast keeper came out, but John easily put the shot past him to put the Cobras up 1-0.

The Cobras next chance came on a long free kick from Erik. His kick went from the middle of the Cobras end of the field, past the Seacoast midfielders and defenders. A couple Cobras players were racing for the ball, but the Seacoast keeper smartly came well off his line to clear the ball. Although the Cobras intercepted the clearance, they could not get off a shot.

Later in the half, John and Nathan broke past the Seacoast defense, Nathan on the left and John on the right. As the Seacoast keeper charged John, he wisely sent a sharp pass to Nathan who drilled a 10-yard shot into the now empty net.

In the second half, Seacoast came out strong to start, sending a few shots in, some wide and the remainder saved by Josh H. Despite a few scary moments for the Cobras, their defense held up well and Josh H was exceptional in goal.

In the second best play of the game, it was time for Peter to return the favor he was given earlier in the game. A Seacoast player got past the Cobras defense and drew Josh H out of the net. As the Seacoast player drew closer, Josh H went down in an attempt to grab the ball, but it got past him to another Seacoast player who immediately took a shot over the now prone Josh. Peter came running across the goal mouth and deflected the ball away on what should have been an easy goal for Seacoast.

One of Seacoasts better chances was a shot from deep in on the left side that went across the face of the goal, past everyone, but trickled down the line past the other side of the net. The Cobras escaped on that one!

Nathan managed 2 more very good shots, these after a significant kick to one of his knees that left him on the ground for about 5 minutes. Ever the trooper, he remained in the game and got off 2 more good shots, one barely wide left and another that went just high.

Play contined back and forth with both teams getting chances. The last shot the Cobras had was an attempted chip over the Seacoast keeper by Erik from about 18 yard out. The ball went over the keepers head, but he just managed to get a finger on it - enough to cause the ball to drop straight down. The ball landed at the goal line and the Seacoast keeper quickly picked it up.

Although the Cobras were outshot 16-5, they made the most of their chances and the game ended with the Cobras up 2-0.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (0) vs. Bedford (7)

The Cobras second game was against Bedford, always a strong team.

Bedford started out their attack early on a great corner kick that went right into the center of the box. The Cobras could not clear the ball and a Bedford player put it into the net.

Peter escaped Bedford's next attempt, a long shot that bounced out of Peter's arms as he dove to save it. As he was on the ground he could not get to the ball, but the Bedford attacker could not get the ball into the net.

Shortly after that, a Bedford player took a very long shot from well outside the 18-yard box that simply sailed over Peter's outstreched arms and into the net to put Bedford up 0-2. Peter didn't have a chance.

Bedford came back again with another hard, high shot over Peter's head. He was in perfect position, but the ball was too high and found the back of the net again.

Towards the middle of the first half, a Bedford player got in past the defense and Randy came screaming back to tackle the ball away, but was called for a foul. This resulted in a penalty kick for Bedford which they converted, setting the score at 0-4.

On Bedford's next attempt, Peter made a fantastic save. All in all, Peter faced 10 shots and made 3 saves.

In the middle of the first half, Erik went in net for Peter.

Erik's first test in net came on a high shot that bounced off the crossbar and was headed to the net by a Bedford player. Erik caught the ball for the save.

Erik made a daring and rather unsafe play when a Bedford player came in dribbling the ball and Erik came out and just kicked it to the side rather than picking it up with his hands.

Bedford had another chance when a Bedford player was kicking the ball high backwards waiting for someone to head it in. Erik came over a couple players and punched the ball away.

Bedford's last chance of the half was a long high shot that Erik leaped for and, with outstreched arms, pulled in for the save.

Erik continued in net for the start of the second half.

The Cobras first shot of the game came at the start of the second half when Timmer sent a great pass up to Peter, but Peter's shot went a little wide.

Bedford's next goal was a fluke of sorts. A Bedford player sent in a cross that one of the Cobras attemped to deflect, but it went to Erik in net. Erik could not pick it up because it was essentially a pass back to the keeper. With a number of players in right front of him, Erik attempted to clear it, but a Bedford player easily put it in the net, putting Bedford up 0-5.

The Cobras one (almost) goal came when Peter took a solid shot that the keeper could not control. John was there to put it in the net. But...the referee called offsides on a player who was not involved in the player and the goal was called back.

Midway through the second half, Josh H went in net for Erik. Erik faced 13 shots and made 10 saves.

On Bedford's first shot on Josh, he was badly screened by a couple of Cobra players and never saw the ball coming through until it was too late. Bedford was up 0-6.

The Cobras finally put some good pressure on Bedford, but ended up with a couple offsides calls. On a couple other occasions they held the ball a little too long before shooting and lost the ball to Bedford players.

Bedford had another goal on a 20+ yard shot that just skimmed under the crossbar, too high for even Josh to reach. This set the final score at 0-7 in favor of Bedford.

Josh H made 2 very good saves on 7 shots.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (4) vs. Concord (0)

The Cobras came out strong from the beginning against Concord, pushing the ball right down the field from the opening start. Matt had the first shot, stopped by the Concord keeper.

The Cobras got on the board early when Nathan, coming up the center of the 18-yard box, drew the Concord keeper to his side. He saw Timmer open on the left and sent a good pass over to Timmer who touched it into the net before the keeper could get to that side, putting the Cobras up 1-0.

The Cobras used some good early passing to set up a few more close call shots that were either stopped by the Concord keeper or a little wide.

The Cobras capitalized on a good throw in from Josh H deep in Concord's end of the field. John received the the ball and kept it away from the Concord defense long enough for Timmer to get open again. John slid a pass across the goal that Timmer sent in for his second of the game. This put the Cobras up 2-0.

The Cobras never let up. They continued some good teamwork, passing constantly and always looking for the open player.

Midway through the first half, Peter was replaced in net by Josh H. Peter faced no shots while in net.

Vinnie got the goal of the game...possibly even the goal of the season. Nathan came up the right side and sent in a high cross that found Vinnie at the far post. He sent a perfect header down past the Concord keeper and into the back of the net for his first goal of the season. A spectacular and very well times play. Cobras up 3-0.

The Cobras had a good break with Nathan, Erik, Vinnie and Matt all coming down. They kept passing into the 18-yard box and unfortunately ended up losing the ball. Any of them could have taken a shot at any time, but they did the unselfish thing and kept passing.

Josh's time in net in the first half was a quiet one, but he did face 2 shots and made 2 good saves, one a very close call where he went down to grab the ball right off a Concord player's foot.

At half time, the Cobras were up 3-0. In the second half, Josh H was still in net.

Early in the second half the Cobras picked up another goal. After a flurry of activity in and around the Concord 18-yard box, Randy slipped the ball through traffic and Timmer drilled a shot into the right side netting for his third goal of the game. This put the Cobras up 4-0.

The Cobras next good chance came after a bit of a flurry in front of the box and Peter sent in a solid shot that caught the inside of the near post and deflected all the way to the other side of the box. Matt was there to take a shot, but it went high, wide and off a couple cars in the parking lot.

Midway through the half, Erik replaced Josh H in net. Josh faced 5 shots (4 on net) and made 4 good saves during his stint as keeper. Erik's time in net was to be as quiet as Peter's as he also faced no shots.

In the latter part of the second half, the Cobras kept up the pressure and Concord couldn't get into the Cobras 18-yard box.

The Cobras did get the ball into the ball into the net one more time when Peter passed up to Josh R who sent in a close shot off the Concord keeper and Bryan was there to kick the deflected ball into the net. But...Josh and Bryan were offside on the play so the goal was not allowed.

The game ended with the Cobras up 4-0. In this game, the Cobras outshot Concord 24-5.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (2) vs. Hopkinton (1)

The Cobras played Hopkinton in a game that saw a fair amount of give and take on both sides.

The Cobras started strong and dominated the first part of the first half. On their first trip down Hopkinton's end, Timmer sent in a great cross from the right side that Matt headed towards the net, but it was stopped by the Hopkinton keeper.

Right after that, Tyler sent a leading pass to, of all people, himself. He beat the defenders and struck paydirt with an outside of the foot shot to the right lower corner of the net puting the Cobras up 1-0.

The Cobras continued the pressure with some good passing and smart plays. Tyler had another shot that the keeper saved and Matt put on a great footwork display, getting past a couple Hopkinton defenders and sliding the ball to Vinnie at the far post, but Vinnie couldn't quite get a foot on it.

By the middle of the first half, play began to migrate into the Cobras end of the field. The first chance by Hopkinton came on a long leading pass to a breaking Hopkinton forward who had beaten the Cobras defense. Peter came well off his line and managed to clear the ball just before the Hopkinton player could get off a shot.

As Hopkinton turned up the pressure they managed to get off a couple more shots that went just wide.

Throughout the half, John played exceptionally well with lots of hustle. He never gave up on the ball and had a couple good steals.

The half ended with the Cobras up 1-0. In the second half, Josh H replaced Peter in net.

The Cobras started very strong again in the second half, stealing the opening restart from Hopkinton and driving down the field to get off a shot that was stopped by their keeper.

Timmer set Vinnie up perfectly with a long leading pass from midfield. Vinnie appeared to have the defenders beat, but waited just a second too long to shoot and a Hopkinton defender came out of no where from behind him to knock the ball away.

Randy showed some great effort in flicking on a pass to him, then outrunning the Hopkinton player to the ball, thus receiving his own pass, brought it down the side and sent in a nice cross, but no one was there to receve it. Timmer managed to get in after that, grabbed the ball and got off a good shot, but it was deflected wide by the Hopkinton defense.

Late in the second half, a whiffed clearance in front of the net by a Cobras player allowed a quick shot by Hopkinton that just managed to get past Josh H and tied the game at 1-1. Josh did look to be somewhat screened on the shot.

Right after the goal (and certainly not because of it), Erik replaced Josh H in net for the remainder of the game.

The Cobras came right back when Timmer sent a nice pass up to Peter on the left side. They didn't know Peter was a lefty and gave him just a bit too much room on his left side and he ripped a shot past the Hopkinton keeper to put the Cobras back up 2-1.

With only a couple minutes left in the game, the Cobras defense began to falter a bit and allowed a very close shot from only a couple feet out on which that Erik came a good reflex save.

Hopkinton kept up the pressure, but only got off 1 more shot, again a close one, stopped by Erik.

The game ended with the Cobras up 2-1 and outshooting their opponent 11-7.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (4) vs. Hampstead (3)

The Cobras face a Hampstead team unlike the one they saw in the Merrimack Jamboree (a Division I team). This team was more at their level.

The Cobras started out strong and dominated the first half, allowing only 2 shots on goal, both stopped by Erik. At the other end, the Cobras piled up 6 shots, most of them on net.

The Cobras first scoring chance came when a Cobra player was hauled down in the penalty are by the keeper (who got nowhere near the ball, but grabbed onto and dragged down the Cobra player. Josh H took the kick and it went wide. But, the referee indicated a problem (the keeper moved inappropriatly) and Josh H took another shot. The keeper expected a shot to the left and dove, but Josh drilled it chest high right down the center of the net to put the Cobras up 1-0.

The Cobras had a couple more chances as they fed John and Nate with long passes. John had a good breakaway chance stopped by a fast Hampstead player who managed to catch him and kick the ball away.

The next time John had this chance, he didn't wait as long. Matt fed him a good leading pass and John beat the defense and sent a good shot past the Hampstead keeper to put the Cobras up 2-0.

In the second half, David replaced Erik in net. This was David's first time in net this year and he performed well.

The Cobras were not the same team in the second half as they were in the first half. A defensive breakdown led to a shot on net. David dove and stopped the shot, but the Hampstead player continued in and touched the ball into the net while David was still on the ground; 2-1.

Hampstead kept up the pressure. On a defensive clearance, a Hampstead player immediately drilled the ball from 25 yards out and it sailed well over David's head and into the back of the net. The score was tied at 2 each.

Erik returned to net in place of David. Hampstead did not quit and managed their 3rd goal in a row on a long shot from the right side that sailed over Erik's head and into the top left side of the net. Hampstead was in front 3-2 with only a few minutes left in the game.

The Cobras came right back as Timmer appeared to have had enough of this scoring from Hampstead. He took the ball from midfield, dribbled down the left side and drilled a shot into the net to tie the score at 3 each with little time left.

Shortly after the next restart, Peter brought the ball down the left side and sent in a nice high cross that made it over the keepers head to the far post where Vinnie was waiting to gently head the ball into the net from only a couple feet out. The Cobras were on top again, 4-3 and the game ended shortly thereafter.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. Seacoast (8)

The Cobras looked tired in this most frustrating loss to a team they had beaten 2-0 earlier in the season.

Seacoast was faster and quicker to the ball than the Cobras today. The Cobras spent the better part of the first half vainly attempting to clear the ball as Seacoast piled up the shots and scores. In the first part of the half, they tallied 10 shots on Peter, with 4 finding the back of the net and Peter making 6 good saves.

Midway through the first half Erik replaced Peter in net and saw an additional 5 shots with 1 save and one finding the back of the net.

The Cobras managed 3 shots, a couple of which were very good, but saved by the Seacoast keeper.

By the half, Seacoast was leading 5-0 and the Cobras looked frustrated.

Erik remained in net in the second half. He was frustrated at the lack of action in his previous game...Seacoast made up for that. They had 19 shots in the second half with Erik getting 13 saves and allowing 3 goals. Erik even had a couple stops to prevent own goals.

The Cobras did managed 5 shots in the second half and pushed down the field more, but the Seacoast defense was very strong today.

The Cobras lone goal came from John off a great leading pass from Peter. John beat the Seacoast defense and sent in a shot from just inside the 18-yard box to prevent the shutout.

In the end, Seacoast prevailed 1-8. On the positive side, this certainly was a game with a lot of action. Peter and Erik were kept very busy in net for the Cobras. Mike was noticable in his absence due to illness. He was missed on defense.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. Timberlane (7)

The Cobras faced a very strong Timberlane team that had yet to be defeated...in fact they had only been scored on once in 6 games. Although the Cobras were outmatched, they played strong.

It was a long, tiring day for the boys as they had no substitutes during the game and by the end they were getting very tired.

Good play on defense by Mike and Nate and good goalkeeping by Erik and Tyler kept the game in check.

The lone Cobras goal came on two quick passes by Matt and Nate that found Vinnie up front. Vinnie scooted past the Timberlane defense and put one past the keeper. This was only the second time this season that Timberlane had been scored on, making it a great goal. It was Vinnie's 3rd goal of the season..

Although most of the play was in the Cobras end of the field, they did get off 6 shots, including a penalty kick that the Timberlane keeper stopped.

Erik spent the first 3/4 of the game in net, while Tyler played the final 1/4 of the game (with Nate in for a the last couple minutes). Both Erik and Tyler faced a barrage of shots, 25 in all and both did a fine job in net.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (0) vs. Bedford (4)

The Cobras had seen Bedford twice this year, once during the NSC Tournament and once in Bedford at the beginning of the season. Bedford is a very strong team, defeated only by Timberlane this season.

The Cobras played one of their best game this season. Their passing was crisp and they took the time to search out open players for passes. They managed to tally 8 shots in the game, with a couple coming from John, Timmer and Vinnie. They came very close to scoring.

Bedford's first goal was very typical of how they like to shoot, high and from outside. It was a long shot from the left side that went well over Erik's head and into the far corner of the net. Erik did manage 19 saves on 29 shots...a busy day.

Bryan went out injured early in the first half leaving the Cobras with no substitutes. For the latter part of the second half, Matt was out injured and the Cobras were playing with only 10 players. They still held strong against a superior team. That alone was impressive.

The end the season a respectible 4-4.
