Nashua Cobras (5) vs. Salem (1)
This Salem team was a tough and agressive as the previous Salem
team, but the Cobras kept control of the game very well.
Erik picked up the first goal on a solid 20-yard shot that went
through the Salem keeper's hands.
Salem equalized when a foul in the Cobras box resulted in a
Salem PK. Josh, who played the first half in net, guessed
correctly and dove to his right, but he was only able to get his
fingertips on the ball.
The Cobras kept posession well and far outshot Salem, but the
shots were often just high or just wide. Midway through the first
half Timmer took a pass in a little traffic, beat a defender and
ripped off a quick shot to the far top corner to put the Cobras
up 2-1.
Towards the end of the half, Erik took a throw in to Ryan H who
passed to Ryan F who turned and drilled the ball past the Salem
keeper.
In the second half we had more of the same, but slightly more
entertainment in the Cobras end of the field with Nate in net.
Nate had a couple rocky moments, but made some good saves and let
nothing by him.
After a couple earlier attempts that came up short, Joe raced in
the left side of the Salem box with the ball. He slid the ball
nicely under the keeper to put the Cobras up 4-1.
Charlie, in a rare appearance up front, finished the scoring with
nice shot from the right side that found the back of the net.
Erik, Timmer, Matt, Joe, Ryan F and Ryan H all had some well
taken shots that were just off the mark. They did a good job
taking outside shots, not trying to constantly work their into
the 6-yard box before shooting.
Ian and Jonathan were both stellar on defense today.
