Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (5) vs. Salem (1)

This Salem team was a tough and agressive as the previous Salem team, but the Cobras kept control of the game very well.

Erik picked up the first goal on a solid 20-yard shot that went through the Salem keeper's hands.

Salem equalized when a foul in the Cobras box resulted in a Salem PK. Josh, who played the first half in net, guessed correctly and dove to his right, but he was only able to get his fingertips on the ball.

The Cobras kept posession well and far outshot Salem, but the shots were often just high or just wide. Midway through the first half Timmer took a pass in a little traffic, beat a defender and ripped off a quick shot to the far top corner to put the Cobras up 2-1.

Towards the end of the half, Erik took a throw in to Ryan H who passed to Ryan F who turned and drilled the ball past the Salem keeper.

In the second half we had more of the same, but slightly more entertainment in the Cobras end of the field with Nate in net. Nate had a couple rocky moments, but made some good saves and let nothing by him.

After a couple earlier attempts that came up short, Joe raced in the left side of the Salem box with the ball. He slid the ball nicely under the keeper to put the Cobras up 4-1.

Charlie, in a rare appearance up front, finished the scoring with nice shot from the right side that found the back of the net.

Erik, Timmer, Matt, Joe, Ryan F and Ryan H all had some well taken shots that were just off the mark. They did a good job taking outside shots, not trying to constantly work their into the 6-yard box before shooting.

Ian and Jonathan were both stellar on defense today.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (6) vs. Salem (0)

Jonathan spent the game in net and put in a great performance, even when he was scaring the heck out of the parents by coming well out of the 18-yard box to make stops and dribbling the ball up to midfield. He never got himself into trouble, but it made for a very interesting game. In the end, well done JT.

The Cobras absolutely rolled over Salem today. Salem started with no subs and the Cobras with just one, but Colin had to make an early exit so both teams ended with no subs. It was a very comfortable day so the weather wasn't a factor.

Colin started things off as the Cobras pushed the ball up the field and Matt sent a pass into Colin who, from within the 18, stuff the ball past the Salem keeper.

Shortly after that, Ian sent a long pass from the back up to Erik who took it just outside the 18, head flicked it on to himself, and drill a rocket from the right side into the net.

Colin picked up his second of the game after Josh sent the ball up to Nate. He crossed it, the keeper deflected it and Colin sent it in. This put the Cobras up 3-0 at the end of the half.

During the game there were no fewer than 5 breakaways by the Cobras...all but 1 of which was shot wide. Erik (2), Joe and Charlie were the culprits on the misses. They were all more amusing than it might otherwise sound and the boys thoroughly enjoyed razzing each other after these missed chances.

In the second half, Nate took the ball up the side, did some very good work getting past a couple defenders and sent in a perfect cross to Joe who drilled it in.

The next goal came when Josh took the ball up from defense, fed Nate who sent a great leading pass to Ian who broke in against the keeper and nicely finished his breakaway to put the Cobras up 5-0.

The final goal came from Josh who drilled in Erik's corner kick.

All the boys had good games today.
