Nashua Red Cobras (5) vs. Bedford United (3)

The Bedford United was a big, strong team, but the Red Cobras prevailed with a 5-3 win. The game started with Bedford pressuring the Red Cobras heavily. Good defense and excellent goalkeeping from Johnathan kept the Bedford United in check.

The first goal was scored by Desmond off a long center pass that gave him a breakaway. The Bedford keeper, out a little far at the top of the 18 yard box, couldn't get back fast enough to keep Desmond from chipping the ball over his head and into the net.

Bedford quickly countered with a goal of their own, a high center shot that Johnathan leapt for and tipped, but was unable to get away from the net. His effort was exceptional, but the shot was well placed leaving him no real chance to stop it.

The Red Cobras continued making chances for themselves and kept the pressure on Bedford when a beautiful long through pass came up the middle to Eric. With one man on him he got off a shot that was deflected to the left. Eric followed up and touched it into the back of the net before the keeper or the defenders to get to him.

Towards the end of the first 30 minute half, Bedford pressured the Red Cobras hard. There were a flurry of shots that were deflected by the Red Cobras defense until a Bedford player caught a deflection sent a driving kick across the net and into the right lower corner.

A short while later, Desmond received a long pass and, on another breakaway, faked the Bedford keeper and put his shot into the net...his 3rd of the game.

An accidental handball inside the box off a Bedford corner kick gave the Bedford United a penalty kick which they converted to make the score 4-3.

The final goal of the game came from Mike L off a short pass from Desmond which Mike L drilled under the keeper on the left side of the net.

Throughout the first half, the Red Cobras displayed excellent teamwork and had some great passing that led to many, many chances to score.

Game Summary For

Nashua Red Cobras (7) vs. Monadnock (0)

After the Merrimack game, where the Red Cobras showed how they could control the game but had problems finishing their scoring opportunities, the Red Cobras came back and finished extremely well in a 7-0 defeat of Monadnock.

Mike L returned (wrapped cast and all) from his brief time off nursing a broken finger and got right into the game with a great early long distance shot that went a little high. Shortly thereafter, good passing from Jonathan gave Mike L another chance, but his shot was stopped by the Monadnock keeper.

A brief, and rare, defensive breakdown from the Red Cobras allowed the Monadnock forwards a solid shot from the right side and Alec was there to make a great save and cover up the ball.

The Red Cobras first goal was an excellent dislpay of teamwork and passing. Erik blocked a Monadnock shot, controlled the ball, passed it up to Drew who made a long pass up the middle to Desmond who dodged 2 Monadnock defenders, passed the ball off to Mike L on the left who drilled a shot past the Monadnock keeper into the right side of the net.

Monadnock won a couple of corner kicks, both of which were stopped with nice defensive headers by Erik.

Good footwork and passing from Jonathan gave Shawn a 1-on-1 break. He beat the Monadnock defender by pulling up on the ball and switching directions near the top right corner of the penalty box. This disoriented the Monadnock keeper and Shawn easily put the ball into the left side of the net, putting the Red Cobras up 2-0.

The Red Cobras kept up the passing, giving Jonathan a solid shot from the left side, but the Monadnock keeper made a nice save.

Erik intercepted a monadnock pass outside the 18 yard box, passed up to Jonathan who fed the ball to Desmond. Desmond's shot was stopped by the Monadnock keeper, but he could not control the ball and Shawn was there to drill it into the back of the net, making it 3-0. This was Shawn's second goal of the game.

The Monadnock keeper was being kept very busy during the first half by a large number of shots from the Red Cobras.

Early in the second half, Desmond ran the ball up, beat 2 Monadnock defenders and drove the ball over the keeper into the top of the net to put the Red cobras up 4-0.

After a long stretch of good offensive pressure from the Red Cobras, Jonathan was fouled just outside Monadnock's 18 yard box. His free kick went over the wall, but the Monadnock keeper managed to stop the ball.

Some more good passing from Jonathan and Desmond led Nick on a good break, but a last second clide tackle by a Monadnock defender knocked the ball out. Nick had another break moments later down the left side and drew the Monadnock keeper to the left. He properly chose and outside of the foot shot to the right, but it went just wide of the net.

On one of the few second half chances by Monadnock, a 1-on-1 break by a Monadnock forward led to a shot that faked out Red Cobras keeper Erik, but he managed to get a foot on the ball and fell on it before it crossed the line.

The Red Cobras turned up the pressure. Shawn drilled a shot at the keeper who was unable to contain the ball and John S was there to knock it in to make the score 5-0.

Game Summary For

Nashua Red Cobras (7) vs. Hudson (0)

The Red Cobras continued their domination of the field in another strong showing versus Hudson at Nashua Corp field in Merrimack. The Red Cobras completely dominated Hudson, allowing very few chances for Hudson in the Red Cobras end of the field.

The Red Cobras started the pressure immediately. A couple minutes into the game, and after some good pressure by the Red Cobras, Desmond was left alone just outside the goal line with the ball, but couldn't manage to get it out from between his legs and the Hudson defenders and keeper managed to clear the ball.

Just a minute or so later, Desmond beat a Hudson midfielder to a clearance made by a Hudson defender on the Red Cobras side of the field. He turned and bolted down the left side towards the net. He beat 2 defenders and drilled a left footed shot past the keeper to make it 1-0.

The once chance Hudson had was a long, but soft kick from outside the 18 yard box that almost got away from Alec, but he kept it out of the net. Sometimes those easy ones seem a little too easy.

The Red Cobras won a corner kick on the right side. Jesse lofted an excellent kick into the penalty area that Desmond trapped and ripped off a solid right footed shot that deflected off a Hudson defender and into the net, making it 2-0.

There were 2 very memorable plays in this game. The first one came in the middle of the first half when Jesse took the ball down the right side of the field and made a fantastic cross into the penalty area where Joe drilled a header that, unfortunately, went screaming off the crossbar. It was such a perfect cross and such a good header that it was a shame the ball didn't go in.

On another good chance for the Red Cobras, Mike L took a throw-in from the right side, beat everyone and ripped off a shot that hit the outside netting.

Towards the end of the first half, Shawn did an excellent job of stopping a couple Hudson forwards and sent a long pass up to Randy who beat a Hudson defender for a 1-on-1 with the keeper, but his shot was right at the keeper. The keeper couldn't hold onto the ball, giving Randy another chance, but the keeper blocked it again.

The final goal of the half was setup by an excellent from Drew on the left side. From outside the penalty area, Joe slid and popped the ball over the keepers head to make it 3-0.

Early in the second half, some good teamwork from Joe and Shawn faked out the Hudson defenders and the keeper giving Shawn the ball just outside the penalty area with an empty net. Unable to contain his exceitement at this incredible chance, Shawn's shot went just wide to the right.

In another display of excellent teamwork, Randy brought the ball up from midfield, faked the defender into thinking he was going straight in and delivered a perfect outside-of-the-foot pass to Joe who was coming up the right side uncovered. Joe lofted a nice high shot over the Hudson keeper to make it 4-0.

In the second most memorable play of the game, a couple Red Cobras mis-fires attempting to move the ball led to a long pass that gave Hudson a 2 on 0 break. Mike F and Jonathan raced down the field. Mike F caught the first Hudson forward, taking him out of the play. This left one lone Hudson forward racing towards the net. Jonathan managed to not only catch up to him, but get past him and steal the ball before the Hudson player could get off a shot.

One of the more amusing goals of the game came when Joe sent a long shot in that the Hudson keeper stopped but could not hold onto. Desmond wandered into the open net and when he attempted to drill the ball into the net, he all but fanned on the shot and it slowly rolled into the net. Still, it was Desmond's 3rd goal of the game and it make the score 5-0.

The Red Cobras had a large number of chances with some long and strong shots by Eric, Erik, Jesse and Joe that kept the Hudson keeper very busy.

Joe had a second header chance when Eric sent a long high cross in from the left side, but Joe's header was stopped by the keeper.

Late in the second half, the Red Cobras won a corner kick from the right side that Jesse sent in beautifully. The kick was blocked by a Hudson defender and it bounced right to Desmond who was in the perfect position to drill it into the net for his 4th goal of the game and set the score at 6-0.

The final goal was scored when Jesse took the ball at midfield and ran it all the way down the right side. The keeper dove the stop the shot, but the ball sat free in front of the net. Erik's shot off the rebound was stopped by a Hudson defender and Nick, who was standing right there, knocked it in to make the final score 7-0.

Game Summary For

Nashua Red Cobras (1) vs. Litchfeld (3)

The Red Cobras suffered a very tough loss to Litchfield in a 1-3 match. While the Red Cobras controlled the majority of the game, much as they did in the Tri-Town game, they had difficulty finishing, also much like the Tri-Town game. It's a tough loss when you control the game as well as the Red Cobras did, but don't come out the winner. A lot of credit should go to the Litchfield keeper who faced a huge number of shots and did an excellent job of keeping the ball out of the net.

Early on in the game the Cobras were pressuring Litchfield. Some good passing and maneuvering led to an early shot by Desmond that was stopped by the Litchfield keeper.

Shortly after that, a sliding tackle by Erik inside the 18-yard box was ruled a foul and Litchfield scored on the resulting penalty kick to make the score 0-1.

A while later, Eric sent a long drive up to Desmond who passed it off to Nick who put it in the back of the net to even up the score at 1-1.

Litchfield came back and scored on a long high shot from the right side to put them up 1-2.

Litchfield had a brief burst of pressure, but good defense and good goal keeping by Alec kept the the ball out of the net.

The Red Cobras spent the remainder of the half with the ball in the Litchfield end of the field, but to no avail. There were a number of good chances and nice shots, but the litchfield defense and their keeper kept the Red Cobras from scoring.

Towards the end of the half Jonathan took a long kick that was punched out by the Litchfield keeper.

The second half started the way the first half ended, with the Red Cobras pressuring heavily. The Red Cobras again had a number of chances and some very close calls with the ball dribbling just in front of the net, but they could not finish.

The Red Cobras had a couple some nice long field passes to move the ball up the field. Jesse ended it with a great running shot that went just over the Litchfield net.

In one excellent play, the Red Cobras won a free kick on the right side. Drew sent in a long high ball that Shawn headed, but it went just wide.

Shortly after that play, Eric had a good shot deflected by Litchfield that was taken by Desmond, but his shot was wide.

Throughout the game, the Red Cobras intercepted a large number of passes and clearances from Litchfield, but the Red Cobras missed some passing chances and could not score.

One very close play was a shot taken by Eric from the right side that the Litchfield keeper just got his fingers on but it wasn't cleared out. It sat bouncing low just in front of the net, but the litchfield defense got there and cleared it out before the Red Cobras could get to it.

With only a few minutes left, Litchfield sent a long pass down the field. A litchfield player was shadowed by a Red Cobra, but it was 1-on-1 with Alec, the Red Cobras keeper. Alec came out with a sliding tackle, but the Litchfield player managed to get the ball around him and tap it into the net to make the final score 1-3.

Game Summary For

Nashua Red Cobras (2) vs. Bedford (1)

The Red Cobras came back from their loss to Litchfield with a much stronger game against Bedford, who were a better team than Litchfield. The Red Cobras pulled out a 2-1 win against Bedford.

Just 3 1/2 minutes into the game, drew sent a long center pass up to Mike L who cleanly beat 2 Bedford defenders and drilled the ball past the Bedford keeper from just outside the penalty area to put the Red Cobras up 1-0.

Just a few minutes later, Mike L led Desmond with a long pass from the middle of the field. Desmond beat a defender and put the ball over the Bedford keepers head to make it 2-0.

Still in the early part of the first half, Jesse got the ball on the Red Cobras side of the field, fed the ball up to Mike L who in turn passed up to Desmond. Desmond took a great long shot from the edge of the 18-yard box, but his kick was just over the crossbar.

Towards the middle of the first half, Erik sent a long defensive clearance up to Desmond who managed to get past the Bedford defender and get off a shot, but the Bedford keeper was there to make the save.

During the first 15 minutes of the first half, the Red Cobras showed some excellent teamwork, passing and a few well played give-and-go's. In the latter part of the half, passing seemed to dry up a bit.

As the Red Cobras passing broke down, Bedford started to turn up the pressure. During the latter part of the second half, Bedford got off a number of shots, including one that was sent high over Jonathan's head. Although Jonathan made a well timed leap on the ball, it was too high and skimmed over his fingers and into the back of the net to make the score 2-1.

Jonathan came though in the clutch with some fantastic saves in the first half, including a well timed catch of an excellent Bedford corner kick.

Once Bedford scored, the Red Cobras defense clamped down and Mike F, Josh, Shawn and Erik played solidly.

In the second half, the Red Cobras didn't let up a single shot on net. Bedford did manage a couple wide shots, but nothing good on net.

An early second half break by Bedford would likely have been a goal if not for an excellent slide tackle by Erik who knocked the ball out of play.

The Red Cobras sent a fair amount of time in the Bedford end of the field in the second half and had a few shots, but the Bedford keeper was there to make the saves. Joe, Desmond and Mike all had good shots.

Game Summary For

Nashua Red Cobras (5) vs. ConVal (3)

The Red Cobras pulled out a solid win from a strong and talented ConVal team by a score of 5-3.

The Red Cobras started out strong again. Very early in the first half, a long shot by Shawn was batted down by the ConVal keeper. When the keeper didn't control the ball, John S was right there to knock it in to make the score 1-0.

Moments later, Nick took a nice shot from the center of the 18-yard box, but it went over the crossbar.

ConVal began pressuring the Red Cobras, but Erik, Mike F, Shawn and Dave held firm on defense while Alec made a couple of good saves.

Mike L took a long leading pass up the left-center with John S on the right for support. They had a 2 on 1 break, but the ball got away from Mike L and the ConVal keeper picked it up.

As the first half moved on, ConVal won a corner kick. The ball was well kicked and got past the red Cobra's defenders and into the back of the net to even the score at 1-1.

The Red Cobras came right back. Eric was taken down hard about 10 yards out from the 18-yard box. Erik (the other one) took the free kick and sent an instep drive through the wall. A ConVal defender tried to get to it and ended up deflecting the ball into the net to put the Red Cobras up 2-1.

Later in the first half the play of the game was set up when Mike L broke down the right side of the field, beat a ConVal defender and sent a perfect cross in to Joe who headed the ball back and to his left into the net. The ConVal keeper never had a chance. The Red Cobras were now up 3-1.

Towards the end of the first half, ConVal came in with a 2 on 1 break. Jonathan managed to intercept the ball around the penalty box and his attempted clearance ended in the Red Cobras net for an unfortunate own goal. It was a shame since Jonathan did such a fantastic job of getting back to intercept the ball.

In the second half both the Red Cobras and ConVal were pressuring heavily. ConVal won a couple of early corner kicks and gave the Red Cobras a few scary moments, but good defense and good goalkeeping by Alec held ConVal off.

Mike L managed a few good breaks, but the ball always seemed to get just a little too far ahead of him or the ConVal keeper would bolt from his net and stop the shot.

After some good pressuring by the Red Cobras, the ConVal keeper made the mistake of rolling the ball into traffic to one of his players where Desmond easily intercepted it and sent a shot into the net to put the Red Cobras up 4-2.

Although ConVal was pressuring heavily near the end of the game, the Red Cobras defense held up well. In one amazing moment, a ConVal player drilled the ball long and high from outside the 18-yard box. The ball was over Alec's head, but it bounced off the left post, onto the right post and down just in front of the net. With Alec scrambling to get his bearings after this wild shot, Erik managed to get a foot on the ball and clear it out. Fortunately there were no ConVal players around the net at the time.

ConVal managed another goal on a corner kick that went past all the Red Cobras players. With only a few minutes left, the score was 4-3.

With less than minute left in the game, the Red Cobras won a corner kick that Jesse very nicely sent into the crowd in front of the ConVal net. After a brief flurry of activity Joe got the ball and sent it over the keepers head (his second of the game), making the final score 5-3.
