Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. Fury (2)

An excellent game for the boys first foray of the Winter indoor sessions. The Cobras and Merrimack were pretty equally matched with great goalkeeping on both ends (the main reason that the score was so low). Josh was superb in net.

Most of the boys were still getting use to being indoor, having not played since mid-April, but they did quite well.

There was some good passing and nice teamwork. Connor and Vinnie were solid on defense and newcomer Kurt found this to be just a tad faster than outdoor soccer.

The Cobras started off the scoring when Brendan took the ball up the right side and found the far post with a good shot.

Later in the first half Merrimack equalized and the half ended with the score tied.

In the second half, much like the first half, each side seemed to take a turn at pounding the other side with shots. The Cobras would be strong for a while, then Merrimack would take over and send shot after shot at the Cobras.

With less than 10 minutes left, Merrimack managed their second goal. The Cobras worked hard to get their second, but to no avail and they dropped their first game, 1-2.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (0) vs. Fil's Team (8)

Fil's Team, a.k.a. the Gate City Thunderbirds are a very strong Division I team that took the Cobras to school this evening.

The Cobras piled up 19 shots but superb goalkeeping kept anything from getting into the back of the net.

Fil's Team racked up 25 shots against Josh, with 8 getting though.

It was a tough game for the Cobras who remained on their heels much of the game, constantly having to defend and clear the ball.

The Cobras had a few good opportunities (as their 19 shots show), but none with the level of excitement contained in the last shot of the game. Brendan took the ball up the left side and chipped a pass from about midfield to Denton breaking down the middle. Denton beat the defense which drew out the keeper. He perfectly chipped the ball over the keepers head and we watched it bounce to the goal...when out of nowhere a Fil's Team player came tearing in and bicycle kicked the ball off the crossbar and back. It was a great play from both teams.

In the end the Cobras went down 0-8.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (9) vs. Bulldogs (4)

The Bulldogs are a rec/travel combination team with a couple very good players and a couple rather inexperienced players.

The Cobras weren't on the top of their game today, but easily handled the Bulldogs, piling up 30 shots to the Bulldogs 17. With Josh on vacation, Nate took over in net.

There were 4 rather quick goals, back and forth. The Bulldogs got on the board first and the Cobras countered with one from Timmer. The bulldogs picked up another goal and the Cobras got one from Erik.

From this point, the remainder of the half was all Cobras. They picked up 4 more goals;2 from Brendan and 1 each from guest players (and brothers) Colin and Ian.

In the second half the Cobras picked up goals from Erik and Connor and the Bulldogs came back with 2 of their own. Brendan finished the scoring with a long shot from the Cobras end of the field that managed to skitter through the keeper's legs.

At various times in the second half, the Cobras appeared to hold back a bit against this weaker team.

The three guest players, Ian, Colin and Shawn all contributed very well to the team and Bobby's debut (after missing the first 2 games with a broken toe) was great as he put up 3 shots, one of which went off the inside of BOTH posts, but never fully crossed the goal line. It looked like a sure goal, but it was not to be.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (5) vs. Litchfield (3)

Far too early in the morning for a game, but the boys were wide awake and played hard. We saw some excellent defense from Vinnie, Connor and Ian with Bobby, Brendan and Nate also helping out.

The Cobras also passed very well, from back on defense pushing the ball forward, to selfless forwards always looking for the open player. Matt D, Brendan, Erik and Timmer looked very sharp up front.

Timmer started off the scoring with a great unassisted shot. This was followed by an unassisted one from Erik and then one from Colin assisted by Denton and Matt S.

Litchfield finally got on the board late in the first half off some nice passing.

In the second half, Nate picked up his first goal (an in-close header just past the keepers hands with an assist from Erik.

Late in the half the Cobras started looking a little tired and Litchfield pushed hard, forcing a couple of the forwards to drop back to help the defenders. Litchfield picked up 2 quick goals, the second with about 5 minutes remaining in the half.

With the score 4-3 in favor of the Cobras, they had to get the ball into Litchfield's end and keep it there. The last 2 goals from Litchfield seemed to ignite them and Litchfield kept pressing the ball forward into the Cobras end of the field.

The Cobras picked up an insurance goal from Denton off a great second effort. His first shot was deflected and he quickly got the rebound and put it away to set the final score at 5-3.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (4) vs. NWC (4)

An impressive game for the Cobras against a very strong World Cup team. The Cobras did have an advantage on subs, but the lack of subs didn't seem to hurt NWC at all.

The Cobras started off strong and got on the board first after Bobby fed Colin who put his shot into the back of the net.

NWC came right back with a goal of their on a tough rebound shot.

Erik put the Cobras up again with a nice shot. With his back to goal, he received the ball, spun and drilled a shot to the far post.

Throughout the half, Nate and Denton were top notch on defense, putting a stop to many NWC chances. Not to mention Josh's great work in net.

NWC got the final goal of the half...another back wall shot that no one could clear - NWC put the rebound in.

The first half was very even, 14-12 on shots and 2-2 on score.

The second half was much like the first half, with the Cobras still playing great. NWC did manage the first goal of the half when Josh had to come out to stop a break (which he did), but the ball deflected to another NWC player who put his shot into an empty net.

The Cobras came right back when Erik fed Colin who put on some great moves to get past the NWC defense and ended alone against the NWC keeper. Colin placed his shot nicely under the falling keeper to tie the score at 3 each.

The passing from the Cobras continued to be crisp and clean. They kept up the pressure and continued making solid shots many requiring extra effort on the part of the NWC keeper.

NWC managed to get on top again after a miscommunication between Josh and Timmer (who was playing forwared, but the only Cobra back on defense at this point). The ball coming in remained free because both player thought the other one was taking the ball. This made for a rather easy chance for NWC and they finished well setting the score at 3-4.

The Cobras continued to pressure and with 1 second left in the game, Timmer got hold of the ball and ripped off a shot. It deflected off someone, away from the keeper and into the net to tie the score.

All in all, it was a great game to watch and very well played by the Cobras.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (4) vs. Fury (3)

After losing the the Fury 1-2 in their first meeting, and coming off a great game against NWC, the Cobras were ready for a win against the Fury.

The first half was very even, with the Cobras getting 9 shots to the Fury's 7. Solid defense from the lines of Connor/Vinnie and Nate/Ian and good aggressive goalkeeping frok Josh kept the ball out of the net.

One superb piece of work from Josh in the first half came when Connor misplayed the ball and a Fury player got in against Josh. Josh charged and slid to block the breakaway shot.

In the second half it was a shooting gallery with a total of 7 goals scored after a scoreless first half.

The Fury got on the board first with a nice outside shot. The Cobras responded only a few minutes later with one from Timmer off a feed from Brendan.

A minor defensive mistake combined with some well timed passing got the Fury their second goal. Again, the Brendan fed Timmer whose shot found the back of the net and tied the score at 2-2.

The Cobras took their first lead of the game when Nate fed Erik coming up the left side. Erik one timed a left footed shot that the Fury keeper never saw. Cobras up 3-2.

The Cobras kept up the nice passing, with the lines of Brendan/Timmer/Bobby and Colin/Matt/Erik working very well together, switching the field at all the right moments.

Timmer got his first hat trick, scoring his third goal of the game, this time unassisted.

With less than 10 minutes to go, the Cobras didn't just sit back and hold the lead, they kept pressing. The Fury did manage another goal to make the final score 4-3 in favor of the Cobras.

Much like the NWC game, it was fun to watch and very close.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras () vs. Fil's Team ()

In their final regular season game for session I, the Cobras faced Fil's team (a.k.a. Gate City Thunderbirds) who had routed them in their first meeting.

The game started on a good note with the Cobras applying lots of early pressure on Fil's team. Connor and Denton were quite solid on defense. Matt D and Ian made a couple nice setups for shots by other players. Josh was also stunning in net, shutting down shots left and right.

Fil's team managed the first goal...a deflection off a corner kick. But the Cobras came right back with one from Timmer.

At the end of the half it was 1-1. In the second half the Cobras looked even stronger, putting up more shots and giving Fil's team much more pressure.

On one occasion when Fil's team was pressuring the Cobras, Josh was caught out of the net while trying to latch onto the ball. The player took a shot and it deflected off a Cobra player and went into the net to put Fil's team up 1-2.

The Cobras defense still held up very well with Vinnie, Connor, Denton and Ian shutting down their opponents and pushing the ball forward nicely. Passing and patience from the boys was first rate today.

With only a couple minutes left in the game, Fil's team was blasting their way down the field and managed a 3rd goal. On the play Denton sustained a knee injury. We all hope it turns out to be minor.

With only 1 1/2 minutes left, the Cobras were unable to rally from 2 goals down and the game ended 1-3.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. Litchfield (0)

In the first round of the playoffs, the Cobras played the Jeckyl and Hyde Litchfield team. Today Litchfield played a strong all around game. Both teams passed and defended strongly. The keepers were both very sharp.

The Cobras had the best of the shooting for the 25 minute regulation but did not manage to prevent a scoreless tie. What ensued was a very fast paced 4 on 4 for the next five minutes which again was scoreless at the end.

Deep into the 3rd period, in a 3 on 3, Brendan was exhausted and coming off the field on a substitution when he fired a long shot from midfield into the goal with the keeper exposed as a supporting player.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (0) vs. NWC (2)

The Cobras then took a 30 minute rest before tackling a full complement of rested World Cup players. This game was as well played with respect to defense and playmaking as in the 1st contest.

The game turned about midway throught the 25 minute period due to an unfortunate hand ball in the penalty box. Josh got a piece of the penalty-kick blast and deflected it vertically but istill went in under the cross bar (a valiant attempt).

Play continued at a furious pace with the Cobras attempting to notch the equalizer. Several solid offensive opportunities were developed by Ian, Brendan, Matt and Timmer.

World Cup got the final goal with about 7 minutes after another hand ball at about the 1/3 field spot. A shot was taken by a World Cup player under a very effective screen before Josh.

The Cobras played well against the fully staffed Select Division World Cup squad but appeared to lack the usual depth afforded by players unable to attend.

Session I was successfully completed at 4-4-1 (consistent with the Fall outdoor 4-4-0 outdoor record).

On to Session II! Happy Holidays all...

Session II

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (5) vs. Litchfield (2)

The Cobras set out to remain unbeaten against Litchfield this indoor season and they did it with help from Erik's first hat trick and the return of Jonathan who showed up in fantastic shape and looked very good all game long. With only 1 sub for the day, the Cobras needed to play smart to take this game.

Litchfield looked strong from the start, piling up about double the number of shots as the Cobras had in the first half. The Cobras still left the half with the lead.

Erik started things off, taking a feed from Ian in the back up to the right corner where he beat the Litchfield keeper at the far post.

Even with the excellent defense of Connor, Ian and Jonathan, Litchfield countered with their only goal of the half with just under 7 minutes left in the half.

Jonathan, pushing forward, put in his first goal to put the Cobras up 2-1 at the end of the half.

Josh continued to look excellent in net, making a couple dives to deflect Litchfield shots.

Passing continued to be strong with Timmer, Colin and Ian looking particularly accurate with their passes. They set up many good shooting chances.

Litchfield managed the second and final goal of the game early in the half to tie the score at 2 each. The Cobras came right back with 2 from Erik, with Colin and Jonathan assisting.

Up 4-2, the Cobras received another insurance goal, this time a rocket from Timmer that deflected off the Litchfield keepers outstretched foot and then on his hand before slamming into the back of the net.

The Cobras strong defense and excellent goalkeeping from Josh kept the remaining chances from Litchfield out of the net and the Cobras finished with a strong win.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. NWC (8)

The Cobras faced a very stiff challenge in a fully stocked World Cup Select Divivion squad (including a recent transfer from our team) this Sunday morning.

The Cobras were short-handed in that two players were unable to make it for different reasons (one unfortunately due to a virus/bug). Other issues involved were back-to-back games and a bad head-cold for two other players.

Needless to say the Cobras played an inspired first half with the score at 3-1 at the intermission. Connor provided some levity by scoring unassisted on an unsuspecting World Cup keeper.

The issues discussed above caused the Cobras to wear down in the 2nd half resulting in an 8-1 final score.

However, all signs point to more positive results in the weeks to come.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (3) vs. Orange Crush (4)

The Orange Crush (a.k.a. Gate City), a Division I team, has always been a tough opponent for the Cobras. Today they were a little short handed with only 1 sub. Orange Crush (OC) didn't fare much better.

The Cobras opened the scoring on a tight angle shot by Erik from the right side. The OC rebounded quickly with one of their own to tie the score at 1-1.

During the first part of the half the Cobras looked very strong and put up a couple good shots while Connor and Ian held strong on defense.

Josh came up with a number of great diving saves. There might have been some highlight film material in there. He faced 12 shots and had 6 good saves in the first half.

The Cobras had a very close free kick when the OC keeper handled the ball outside the box, but the OC wall held strong (despite the rather hard shot from Timmer just 3 feet away).

OC managed another goal to go up 1-2. A Cobras foul (sliding tackle perhaps?) in the box led to a very close free kick for OC and the caught the Cobras off guard and easily put it in to go up 1-3 at the end of the half.

In the second half OC kept up the pressure they started late in the first half. The piled up 13 more shots on which Josh had 11 saves.

OC picked up another goal on a miscommunication between Josh and Connor...and the ball rolled in. Unfortunate turn of events and OC was up 1-4.

The Cobras had no intention of quitting and OC knew it. In an impressive display of skill, Ian took the ball from the back all the way down the field and put one past the OC keeper to bring the Cobras within 2.

Late in the game, Timmer saw Matt D wide open up the field, sent a long though pass up to him. As the keeper came out to face Matt 1-on-1, Matt turned to drill it past the keeper and whiffed. But! This so faked out the keeper that the easy pass rolled on by and into the net to make the score 3-4. We'll give this one to Matt for his impressive fake!

The Cobras kept trying and the last few minutes seemed to get a bit rough on both sides, but the score remained 3-4.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (3) vs. Conval (1)

Conval appeared to be a well matched opponent for the Cobras, but they did outshoot the Cobras by a wide margin (32-20). All those shots kept Josh very busy and he made some excellent saves with a few diving saves in particular destined for the highlight film on ESPN's SportsCenter.

Connor was out today, but Vinnie, Nate (rejoinging the team after a layoff nursing a broken arm), Jonanthan and Ian held the defense well, stopped a number of shots and interrupted many shooting chances for Conval.

The opening of the first half was all Conval as they pounded Josh with shots and got one through.

The Cobras settled down, started to take more control and began to get some shooting chances, but none solid enough to get past the rather large keeper for Conval.

In the second half the Cobras picked things up and managed more shots than in the first half, and they made them count. The shooting chances were nicely spread out among the Cobras with almost everyone on the team taking at shot at one time or another. Many of the shots were just wide or off the post.

Timmer put the Cobras on the board first with a nice angle shot.

Midway through the half, after a couple close shots that rebounded out, Erik called Denton off a bouncing rebound that came up the middle and drilled a low shot in from the top of the penalty box to put the Cobras in the lead 2-1.

The Cobras were doing a nice job of getting the ball up the field and into the middle, but the Conval defense was holding strong.

The Cobras faced a big scare when a Conval player drilled in a high shot that hit the crossbar and deflected down. After a brief flurry of Josh's arms and Conval's feet in the box, Josh came up with the ball.

Late in the game, Timmer took a free kick from the top left side of the penalty box. Instead of drilling it in, he sent a short pass into Erik in the middle. As Nate did a superb job of screening the Conval keeper, Erik redirected the ball into the net. Timmer's setup and Nate's screen made this one possible.

Conval couldn't recover from a 2 goal deficit and the Cobras prevailed 3-1.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. Bedford (2)

The Cobras put up one of their best performances all year against Bedford who has traditionally been a far better team than the Cobras. The Cobras passed very effectively which says a lot given the strength of Bedford.

The Cobras defense was fantastic all game with Jonathan, Denton, Ian and Nate all playing very well. They stopped a number of good chances (3 on 2's 2 on 1's) by Bedford. Josh was also solid in net.

The first half ended in a 0-0 draw with Bedford having a 16-12 advantage in shots. Although Bedford pressured more in the first half, the Cobras held strong.

Bedford scored first in the second half, but the Cobras came right back with Ian send a left side shot to the far post to tie the game at 1 each.

The Cobras mounted a strong offense, keeping the ball in Bedford's end of the field for a while.

Later in the half Bedford managed a second goal on some very nice play making to make the final score 1-2.

The Cobras did have a few more chances, but excellent goalkeeping by the Bedford keeper and a strong Bedford defense kept the ball out of the Bedford net.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. NWC (10)

This was a tough one. The Cobras were heavily outplayed by the select World Cup team. Even with the score as it was, the Cobras played pretty well and defended as best they could.

NWC did score first, just a couple minutes into the game, but the Cobras came right back when Erik sent in a hard shot from the right side that beat the NWC keeper at the far post and "bumper balled" between the posts.

At this point, NWC poured on the passing and just beat the Cobras. They piled up 6 more goals in the first half.

Although the Cobras were outshot 23-7 in the first half, they did have a couple good chances. One close chance came when a rebound came out to Erik at the top of the box and he shot it with a downward curve. It almost beat the NWC keeper high, but he just got a his hands up to deflect it. Denton was right there with a header, but the keeper managed to recover in time to get it.

In the second half the Cobras seemed a little more settled and the shots were even at 15 a piece. NWC managed 3 more goals in the second half to make the final score 1-10.

Timmer, Ian, Matt and Erik each had great looking shots that were either just wide or stopped by a very solid NWC keeper.

Despite the 10 goals, Josh did very well in net, facing more shots (and higher quality shots) than in any other game this session. He had a couple great diving saves.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (8) vs. Litchfield (3)

Erik turned in a 4 goal, 1 assist performance in a solid game for the Cobras against Litchfield. One of the nice things to see today was the passing and playmaking as well as the assists. More often than not in indoor soccer goals are unassisted, but today the Cobras had assists on 5 of their 8 goals. Nice teamwork from the boys.

The Cobras controlled the game and kept the pressure on Litchfield for almost the entire game. On the first shot of the game, Erik was up against the back wall and somehow managed to shoot down the wall and have the ball bounce off the keeper and into the net.

The Cobras had a couple chances from Colin who had a couple nice headers stopped by the Litchfield keeper.

A few minutes later, the Litchfield keeper handled the ball outside the box giving the Cobras a free kick from the right side of the box. Erik banked a quick wall pass off the back wall to Timmer in the middle and Timmer put it into the net to put the Cobras up 2-0.

A couple runs down the field later, Timmer slipped the ball to Erik who sent his shot into the net to put the Cobras up 3-0.

Jonathan picked up the next goal. After a flurry in the box, Colin passed the ball back to Jonathan who was just outside the box and he sent a solid shot into the corner to put the Cobras up 4-0.

Erik picked up his third goal of the game with the assist going to Colin. Ian then picked up his first of the game and third for this session on a back-pass setup from Jonathan.

With the score 6-0 at the start of the second half, Jonathan replaced Josh in net. Josh had very little to do in the first half, seeing on 5 shots. For having not played in net for quite some time, Jonathan did very well. Josh also played well on the field, particularly given that he has spent so little time out of net.

Litchfield managed 3 goals in about 15 minutes to set the score at 6-3. This was the one part of the game where the Cobras started to look a little soft. The Cobras turned it on again geting great shots from Timmer and Ian along with chances from Nate and Matt, but the Litchfield keeper did a fine job keeping the ball out of the net.

The Cobras picked up their next goal when Erik sent what he later said was just a clear into Litchfield's end that went right into the top corner of the Litchfield net. The Keeper didn't think it was that close and just watched it go in.

Colin picked up his first goal of the game with very little time left to make the final score 8-3.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (2) vs. Litchfield (1)

The first 25 minutes tournament game has the Cobras facing Litchfield, a team they continually beat but that they occasionally have a tough time with.

Today Litchfield played well, but the Cobras outshot them 19-6. Josh was excellent in net allowing only 1 goal. The defense held up well with Vinnie, Jonathan and Ian playing solid all game.

Colin picked up the first goal after a flurry in front of the net produced a rebound that he sent right past the Litchfield keeper.

Miway through the game, with the Cobras still pressuring, Timmer had the ball on the back boards and sent the ball into the middle where Colin touched it into the net.

Litchfield started to make a comeback and managed the one and only goal, but the Cobras held strong for the remainder of the game. There was one close call where the Cobras had a handball in the box that the referee didn't call. It would have been a penalty kick, but the Cobras escaped that one.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (2) vs. World Cup (3)

In the second game of the tournament, the Cobras faced World Cup, the strongest team in the division. World Cup had rocked the Cobras twice already.

The Cobras played one of their best games of the session, much like they played during the Orange Crush game and the Bedford game and kept in it the whole time.

World Cup got 2 quick goals made possible by superb passing.

Down 0-2, the Cobras began to mount a comeback. Vinnie sent up a pass to Colin that he deflected just enough to completely fake out the World Cup keeper.

The Cobras defense got caught out on the next World Cup goal, but the Cobras came back with another one from Colin (his 4th goal of the day between the 2 games),

As much as the Cobras tried, they just couldn't get another goal and the game ended at 3-2. Nice job from the boys though.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (8) vs. Litchfield (2)

NWC appears to be skipping this session (no shows for the last 2 weeks) so the Cobras took on a tired Litchfeld team that had just had their heads handed to them by Bedford. Now it was the Cobras turn.

The Cobras dramatically outshot and outplayed Litchfield. In the first half the Cobras outshot Litchfield 30-7. However, the Cobras couldn't find the back of the net. Their shots were just wide, a little high, saved or pinballed between the posts, but they just couldn't get the ball in.

Colin started things off with the first goal, but Litchfield came back with one of their own. Ian put one in to put the Cobras up 2-1.

In the second half the Cobras continued their overall dominance as Litchfield really tired out. The Cobras piled on for a little while, getting goals from Jonathan (2), Ryan (2), Matt and another from Colin. Litchfield did manage another goal on a breakaway.

The Cobras passing was nothing but first rate throughout the game. Once they were up 8-2, they just passed the ball around for the remainder of the game, doing a fine job of keeping it from Litchfield.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (4) vs. Litchfield (2)

Litchfield was a little short on players at the start of the game so they picked up a couple extras.

The Cobras played a very strong game and generally outplayed Litchfield, but Litchfield looked much stronger today than in the past couple times they faced the Cobras.

With Josh in referee class today, Jonathan took over in net after a brief stint by Ian.

There were plenty of shots from the Cobras in the first half, but they just couldn't get the ball into the net. The Cobras had an early free kick chance from the top of the box, but the Litchfield defense held strong and blocked the attempt.

Midway through the half the Cobras went on top after Timmer very nicely fed Matt in the middle and Matt sent his shot past the Litchfield keeper.

Only a minute or so later, Vinnie blasted one in, his first of the session. Following that, Erik sent in a left footed shot to put the Cobras up 3-0.

A few minutes after Erik's goal, Ian drilled one high that the Litchfield keeper couldn't get to and the Cobras were up 4-0.

The shooting chances continued for the Cobras, but they were either stopped by the Litchfield keeper or went a bit wide. The good news on the wide shots is that there really weren't any shots into the netting, they were off the post or just outside the posts.

Vinnie played very well at forward (and on defense) today and looked very sharp all game. Nate also hustled well both in front and back on defense.

Litchfield had a number of good chances today, but Jonathan played well in net. The two times Litchfield did score, they were solid, well placed shots, the first coming off a minor defensive error from the Cobras and the second one left Jonathan screened on the shot.

Overall the Cobras heavily outshot Litchfield 49-15. With some improved finishing, the score could have been very lopsided in favor of the Cobras.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (8) vs. Bedford (5)

This was an interesting game. The Cobras looked like they'd be shorthanded so they picked up a couple Orange Crush players and then a couple more Cobras showed up giving them about 13 players.

This combination of Orange Crush and Cobras was ideal as all the boys played their hearts our (with RJ slamming into the boards on a couple occasions). Excellent hustle today by Timmer and Nate as well. They were both on top of their game.

To no one's suprise, Bedford got on the board first with their best finisher getting a breakaway on Josh and easily slotting the ball into the net.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (6) vs. Milford (1)

The Cobras faced a newly re-formed Milford Zap team (a team they will face outdoor in the Spring) and played a strong game. With the help of guests Ryan H, Ryan F and Brendan, the Cobras posted a solid 6-1 win.

Ryan F started things off, taking a feed from Ian and punching it past the Milford keeper. Shortly after that, Timmer slipped a nice pass in to Matt, parked in the box and Matt danced around the keeper to touch in the Cobras second goal.

Vinnie, switching from defense to forward a few times in the game, picked up the third Cobras goal on an unassisted shot.

The Cobras kept up the pressure with lots of shots and chances. Milford's defense actually blocked a number of shots and their keeper held up well under the barrage of 23 shots.

Matt picked up his second of the game with another slick bit of ball handling in front of the keeper.

Just as the first half was about to end, Milford picked up a goal on a good outside shot on which Josh was well screened.

In the second half Milford more than doubled the number of shots they had in the first half, but Josh was up to the task, making a few highlight film quality diving saves.

Timmer picked up the Cobras next goal on a hard shot from the back wall that snuck past the keeper and into the net.

Ian and Vinne teamed up for the sixth and final Cobras goal on a very well done play. As Vinnie sprinted up the left side, Ian brought the ball up the center. From just about midfield, Ian slipped a pass up the middle just as Vinnie cut in and Vinnie deftly sent the ball to the bottom right corner.

Overall a well played game with good passing from the Cobras. Connor, Ian and Vinnie showed good patience in the back, never rushing to get rid of the ball when they didn't have to.

Mike did well up front along with Erik (still recovering from a bad cold) and Nate.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (2) vs. Litchfield (2)

This was a tough game for most of the Cobras as they had just finished a 1 1/2 hour skills clinic made up of mini games...so they were all just a bit tired. On top of that, Litchfield came to play today and had their best game of the session against the Cobras.

Litchfield got on top first finishing on a rebound off an initial shot. The Cobras had no shortage of chances, but Litchfield's defense held up strong until Matt managed to weave past a couple defenders and put his shot in to tie the game at 1 each.

Litchfield picked up their second goal on a solid shot from the left side that beat Josh at the far post.

After many shooting attempts, the Cobras picked up their second goal when Jonathan, holding the ball deep on the right side, passed back to Brendan at the blue line and Brendan sent in a shot that the Litchfield keeper never saw coming.

There were a number of good chances for both sides towards the end of the second half, but the game finished in a 2-2 tie.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (6) vs. Merrimack (5)

Merrimack was ready to play today and gave the Cobras a tough, physical game. This was one of the rougher games we've seen in a while, but it was mostly fair, agressive play.

Connor, Nate and Vinnie were excellent on defense today.

Nate started the Cobras off early on what was a pass up the center to Erik who was wide open in front of the keeper. Erik whiffed trying to kick the ball and it rolled past the keeper and into the net.

Erik picked up the second goal after taking a feed from Vinnie and he drilled it past the keeper from the right side.

Merrimack picked up their first goal on a superb play.

Matt picked up the third Cobras goal after Nate sent in a shot/pass from the left side against the back wall. Matt was there to touch it past the Merrimack keeper to put the Cobras up 3-1.

Merrimack came right back with a rocket of a shot that went past everyone and into the net.

Vinnie and Matt then hooked up just as Nate and Matt had earlier as Matt sent a pass down the back wall to Vinnie who was able to knock it into the net to make the score 4-2.

Merrimack closed the gap to 1 goal on a very well taken free kick that whizzed past everyone.

After some excellent clutch defense from Nate, the Cobras moved the ball up the field and Colin picked up his first goal of the game.

Merrimack then racked up 2 goals in a about a 2 minute span as they just pounded the Cobras defense and Josh. Speaking of Josh, during this time he stopped 3 very hard, point blank shots...in a row...in a crowd..in about 3 seconds. Most impressive.

With the score now tied and about 5 minutes left to play, both sides were working very hard to get the winning goal. Colin was the one who got it after some help from Matt and the Cobras came out ahead in a 6-5 game.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (8) vs. Orange Crush (10)

Interesting night...started out annoying with a very long delay and field switch and ended up wonderful with a great, fast paced game on the 4-a-side field.

Games on the small field always tend to result in a scoring fest and this was no exception. It was difficult to attempt to keep up with the myriad of shots and plays tonight. The play was fast and furious and the boys played very well.

While it was thought that the small field and fast paced game would heavily favor Orange Crush, the Cobras held strong and, percentage wise, did a better job converting their shots than Orange Crush did.

The Cobras ended up falling to Organge Crush 8-10, but had led at one point 4-1. Ian kicked in 4 goals, Erik had 2 and Nate and Vinnie each had one.

Josh held up well in net under the barrage of shots and made some fantastic saves.

Game Summary For

Nashua Cobras (2) vs. (3)

Didn't we just see these guys the other night? Yes, it was the Orange Crush (a.k.a. Gate City Thunderbirds) the Cobras faced for their first game of the tournament...the team they had just played a wild game with on the small field.

The Cobras were fantastic, really taking it to this select team of players. The Cobras started things off with a long shot by Nate from midfield that just seemed to roll past the Orange Crush keeper.

The Cobras kept up the pressure and, with some nifty footwork from Matt, had another chance as Matt skirted around a defender and found Erik in the box, but the keeper shopped the shot.

Erik, Ian and Colin were all in the Orange Crush box trying to pound the ball in, but the Orange Crush keeper managed to finally sit on the ball to stop the play.

On a nice free kick play, Nate's kick was just high and Matt was there for the rebound, but the Orange Crush keeper stopped the shot.

Orange Crush managed a goal to tie the game, but the Cobras came back with another goal when Timmer fed Matt who sent the ball into the net.

Up 2-1 with less than a minute left, Orange Crush were awared a goal on a shot that hit the crossbar and bounced down and out of the net. On the next restart, the Cobras lost the ball and with only 3 seconds left Orange Crush scored and won the game. A tough loss for the Cobras who kept up with this select team throughout the game.

And so ends another great year of indoor soccer! On to the outdoor games!
