Jonathan played an excellent first half in net for the Red Cobras, stopping a few good shots from Merrimack.

Nick started the scoring off, taking a nice header pass from Joseph that left him alone against the keeper. Nick drilled the ball past the keeper to put the Red Cobras up 1-0.

Throughout the half Nick played exceptionally well and kept the Merrimack keeper very busy with numerous shots.

Merrimack had a couple chances to score, but Jonathan held strong in net and gave up nothing. He even had an excellent save on a Merrimack breakaway.

Adam put the red Cobras up 2-0 after taking the ball up the left side and putting it past the keeper.

Joseph came up with another assist when he crossed the ball from the right side to Mike L in the center who headed the ball backwards into the net while falling into the keeper. This put the Red Cobras up 3-0.

In the second half, Alec replaced Jonathan in net and the Red Cobras kept up the pressure and Merrimack increased the pressure on the Cobras.

At one point the Red Cobras defense couldn't clear the ball, allowing Merrimack a few very close shots in a row, but Alec held strong and was able to fall on the ball.

The Red Cobras showed some good play making and very nice passing throughout the game. Early in the second half, Josh sent a long pass up to Joseph for a breakaway, but the Merrimack keeper managed to stop the shot.

The Red Cobras continued with numerous long, leading passes that got behind the Merrimack defense, but they were just a foot too far for the front players to reach. All very good ideas and good playmaking.

Merrimack managed to score midway through the second half off, what appeared to be an accidental own-goal by the Cobras, making the score 3-1.

Once that goal was scored, Merrimack came on hard and managed another quick goal to put the score at 3-2.

Mike L took the ball, unassisted, up the left side, beat the Merrimack defenders and ripped a shot past the keeper at the far post, putting the Red Cobras up 4-2.

Merrimack came right back and scored the final goal of the game with just a couple minutes left, making the final score 6-5.

Game Summary For

Nashua Red Cobras (1) vs. Windham (10)

The Red Cobras played a Division I Windham team and were outmatched from the start. The Cobras played excellent in this loss, with good passing, many chances to score and good team play.

The Red Cobras were short a number of players today so they picked up a couple guest players; Ashley, Nick B and Chris.

Jonathan was outstanding as keeper in the first half, stopping a number of breakaways by Windham, but the very talented Windham players managed to get past the Red Cobras defense shortly thereafter and put the ball into the corner of the net. 0-1.

Ashley gave the red Cobras their first chance on a nice shot that was just barely grabbed by the Windham keeper.

Windham broke down the field quickly and put one past Jonathan's right side...he had no chance. It was a well placed shot by Windham, 0-2.

Josh took a free kick from the middle of the field and almost managed to get it over the keepers head. Excellent shot.

Shortly after that, Nate had a chance and drilled the ball in but it was just wide.

Erik inadvertantly passed the ball to a Windham player just outside the penalty box and the Windham player drilled it, but Jonathan was there to make a great kick save.

Windham tallied 3 quick goals, putting the Cobras down 0-5.

On the second half, Adam replaced Jonathan in net and played excellent, just as Jonathan had.

Jonathan quickly made his presence on the field felt as he sent in a nice cross for Chris who just missed the net.

Windham managed yet another goal with a high shot over Adam's head. He was in the perfect position, but the ball was just a little too high, 0-6.

Off a bad clearance by the Cobras defense, a Windham player ripped the ball past Adam who never even saw it coming - 0-7.

The Red Cobras managed to get on the board after a flurry up front between Nate and Nick. Nick punched it in with Nate getting the assist, 1-7.

Windham managed a couple more goals, showing nice footwork and passing, 1-9.

Adam was caught too far out of the net and a Windham player launched a long shot over his head and into the net, 1-10.

While it was a tough came against a superior opponent, the Red Cobras played very well and deserve credit for not quitting.

Game Summary For

Nashua Red Cobras (4) vs. Hudson (4)

It was a game that the Red Cobras dominated from the start, but only came away with a tie. The Red Cobras put an enormous amount of pressure on Hudson in the first half.

Jonathan was outstanding as usual as our first half keeper. He made a couple of great saves on very close shots.

The Red Cobras got on the board first with a close in pass from Alec that Nathan tapped into the net; 1-0.

Early on, Mike L played tough, scrapping for the ball and playing hard on the boards as he was getting roughed up and managed to get a couple good shots on net, but the Hudson keeper stopped them.

Hudson got their only goal of the first half on a fast break where the Hudson player managed to get past the Red Cobras defense and put one past Jonathan to tie the score at 1 each.

The Red Cobras showed generally good passing and teamwork, but all the shots were right at the Hudson keeper leading to easy saves.

Towards the end of the first half, Joseph took the ball up the center and slid a pass off to Nathan who drilled a left-footed shot past the Hudson keeper to put the Red Cobras up 2-1.

Throughout the first half the Red Cobras outplayed and outgunned the Hudson team.

In the second half, the Red Cobras came out strong again. Early on, Erik drove a long shot from outside the penalty box that bounced off the top of the goal. Jonathan brought it down and put it into the net to put the Cobras up 3-1.

Erik played a great half on defense, slowing down some and outright stopping other potential chances by Hudson.

Nick played strong again with great hustle and managed to get off a few good shots.

Midway through the half, Jonathan blocked a Hudson free kick and Brendan, in net for the second half, lofted the ball down the field, leading Alec perfectly past the Hudson defense. The Hudson keeper was out too far and Alec put the ball past him to put the Red Cobras up 4-1.

Hudson managed a solid, in-close, shot, but Brendan held up strong and shut them down.

A good lead seemed to be the Red Cobras undoing. They slowed down (likely tired from the drilling they gave Hudson in the first half) and their defense broke down a little.

The Red Cobras still had their chances. Joseph, Nick and Mike L played up a storm in the front, keeping up the pressure. Mike L setup a beautiful chance with a quick pass to the right, across the penalty area, but Alec, who was waiting in front of a now open net, couldn't get a foot on the ball.

As the Red Cobras defense began to tire out, Hudson managed 2 very fast goals with about 7 minutes remaining. In both cases they were close shots where Brendan couldn't do much to stop them, setting the score at 4-3.

Shortly after those 2 goals, Hudson came back again and scored to end the game at 4-4. It was unfortunate that, as well as the team played for most of the game - far outplaying Hudson - a few brief moments of slack had them end in a tie.

Game Summary For

Nashua Red Cobras (11) vs. Merrimack (2)

The Red Cobras, led by Joseph (who not only scored his first goal of the indoor season, but managed 5 goals in the game), completely dominated Merrimack with a 12-2 win.

The Red Cobras displayed some solid passing and good teamwork. They looked for open players, talked well and set each other up nicely.

Joseph started off the scoring as he brought the ball up the field, caught the Merrimack keeper a little too far out of the net, snuck around him and tapped the ball into the net; 1-0.

In a lighter moment, Josh drilled a free kick from midfield and lost his shoe.

Shortly thereafter, Joseph received a long pass from Timmer and again caught the keeper out too far. Joseph did just a light touch on the ball to put it into the net; 2-0.

On the next goal, Nick brought the ball down the right side, saw Timmer coming up the middle and ripped a pass off the wall to the waiting Timmer who put it in the net; 3-0.

In a very nice display of teamwork and touch passing, Nick was close to the box on the right side, sent a good pass back to Erik who chipped it over all the Merrimack players, but the Red Cobras players couldn't quite get to it.

While Mike F and Erik (both generally defenders) were playing up front with Adam, Mike was showing some great ball handling and passing. At one point Adam took the ball up the left side, faked out 3 Merrimack players touched the ball to Erik, waiting right in the middle of the box and Erik put it into the net for his first goal of the season; 4-0.

Shortly after his goal, Erik managed to acquire the first team foul for a sliding tackle (a no-no indoors). He made up for this by intercepting the free kick taken by the keeper, passed up to Joseph who passed to Adam, who took a quick shot, but the Merrimack keeper stopped the shot.

In one of the more amusing play of the game, Joseph, who was on a good roll at this point, brought the ball up by himself, got past a couple Merrimack players, but did so much footwork he managed to fake himself out and lost the ball. Very amusing...

Shortly after that, Erik came up the right side, received a pass and drilled a shot that went off the wall. He managed to get the rebound himself and from directly in front of the net fired off another shot, but the Merrimack keeper stopped it.

The Red Cobras continued the great passing and kept their positions (rather than chasing the ball) which allowed them to get open for all the good passes from their teammates.

Merrimack's first goal was an interesting one. A shot came in on Alec and, as it was going through his legs, he sat on it - nice stop. Unfortunately, his clearance went right to a Merrimack player in front of the net who was now alone against Alec and he scored; 4-1.

The next time Alec got the ball he sent a fantastic long throw to Joseph who was alone against the keeper, faked him out and scored once again; 5-1.

On an excellent play from Josh, he took a pass, managed to push the ball right through 2 Merrimack defenders who were right on him and ripped off a shot, but the Merrimack keeper made a good save.

Right after that, Joseph came up the right side, drilled off a short that went off the boards to a waiting Josh in the center of the box who drove the ball past the keeper to make it 6-1.

Shortly after the next restart, Joseph took the ball all the way down by himself, past a couple Merrimack players and scored again - unassisted; 7-1.

In the last seconds of the half, Nate took one for the team as he stopped a very close, very hard shot with his body.

In the second half, Nick B took over in net.

The Red Cobras kept up the pressure and Joseph started off the scoring by getting yet another goal, his 5th of the game off either a penalty kick or A free kick from the edge of the box (the parents were too busy chatting and missed the beginning of the play); 8-1.

A few minutes later, Alec took a long pass and was along against the keeper, but couldn't quite manage to get it in. His shot was off the wall and Timmer, who positioned himself perfectly in front of the net put the ball in; 9-1.

Merrimack managed to push the ball up to the Red Cobras end much more in this half. The Cobras defense held strong and Nick B played well in net, stopping a couple point blank shots.

Adam took the ball down the left side towards the middle when the Merrimack keeper came out a little, lofted the ball over the keepers head and into the net to put the Cobras up 10-1.

Adam struck again when he brought the ball down the far left side, into the corner and, somehow, managed to drill a shot past the keeper from what looked to be an impossible angle; 11-1.

Merrimack's only other tally came from Ashley, probably the best player on the Merrimack team who drilled a shot from the left side of the blue line, past Nick; 11-2.

For the last 3 or so minutes of the game, the Red Cobras just overwhelmed Merrimack and kept the ball in their end. Shot after shot from Nick, Erik, Nate and Joseph kept Merrimack's defense and keeper very busy.

With only seconds left in the game, a good clearance from the Merrimack keeper sent 3 Merrimack players in on Nick with no defenders. The first shot went off the wall, but Nick couldn't get a handle on it. While Nick was down, the Merrimack player drilled another shot that Nick somehow managed to grab and stop.

Game Summary For

Nashua Red Cobras (2) vs. Classics JV (7)

The final game of the indoor season saw the Red Cobras face the Bedford Classics again. Although the Cobras played far better in this game than in their first meeting with the Classics, the end result was the same. The Cobras passing and positioning in this game was far better than in the previous meeting with the Classics.

The Classics got on the board first with a hard hit shot from just outside the box that went over Alec's head; 0-1.

Shortly after that goal, the Classics intercepted a clearance from Alec and ripped off a close shot that fortunately went wide.

Mike L, Nick A and Joseph put a lot of good pressure on the Classics defenders. They got off a number of shots early on.

The Cobras lucked out when they got caught off guard during a defensive shift change that left the Classics with a breakaway, but the Classics player missed 2 open shots in a row. By that time the shift change was complete and the Cobras defense cleared the ball.

Timmer provided some exceptional defense, stopping shots and sacrificing his body for the team on a couple occasions. In one particular incident, Alec was caught out of net by a quick pass from a Classics player on the right, leaving a Classics player on the left with the ball and an empty net. Timmer jumped in front of the shot and stopped it.

The Cobras defense did a fine job in making good passes up to the forwards. One such play left Mike L with a breakaway. When the Classics keeper charged him he tried to chip the ball over her head, but it didn't quite make it in the net. Well played by Mike though.

There was a slight parental distraction during a lost beanie baby episode and we missed the details, but a free kick from inside the box by the Classics led to a goal to put them up 0-2.

Shortly after that goal, Mike L took the ball at midfield, worked his way up the left side boards, past a defender and ripped a shot past the Classics keeper to put the Cobras on the board; 1-2.

The Classics came right back, putting a lot of pressure on the Cobras defense. After a flurry of activity, a Classics forward sent a high shot over everyone that hit the inside of the right post and went in; 1-3.

In a good example of fine teamwork, this time between Erik and Nate, the Cobras started applying pressure and Erik sent a nice touch pass high over everyone to Nate at the front of the box, but he just couldn't manage to get a good shot off.

Shortly after that, Joseph sent a strong outside shot toward the Classics net, but their keeper made the save.

A very respectible first half for the Cobras against a very well skilled Classics team.

In the second half, Matt replaced Alec in net.

Mike F played an exceptionally strong game. He dogged the Classics players on defense and hustled very well.

A poor defensive clearance by the Cobras led to an instant 3 on 2 for the Classics. The Cobras defenders each took a side player, leaving Matt to deal with the center player who had a little too much time and sent a shot into the lower right corner of the net. Matt had no chance; 1-4.

On a very quick play that no one, not even the majority of the Classics players, were ready for, a Classics player drilled a free kick from the left side of the box past Matt; 1-5.

The Cobras upped the pressure on the Classics early in the second half with good passing and a lot of shots. Unfortunately, the Classics keeper was always there to make the stop.

On another good display of teamwork, this time between Erik and Joseph, Erik took a free kick from the top of the box. He could have simply ripped off a shot, but instead sent up a nice chip to Joseph who was waiting in front on the keeper. Unfortunately, Joseph lost out on height and couldn't get the ball. Another good idea that was well played - showing that they obviously were talking and planning prior to the kick.

In a second beanie baby incident, the beanie frog somehow managed to make it's way onto the field where it sat against the boards for a few minutes until Joseph scooped it up and passed it back to the parents.

The Cobras still kept up the pressure and teamwork. Joseph got the ball in close and sent a nice back heel flick to Nate who ripped off a shot, but it went high. Very nice play.

Later, with the Cobras pressuring, the Classics keeper pickup up a pass from her own defender leading to a free kick from inside the box. Nate quickly took the kick and it was blocked, but the Referee had not signaled his ok. The kick was retaken and Nate drilled it past the Classics keeper to give the Cobras their second goal; 2-6.

The Classics pick up another goal late in the second half to set the final score at 2-7.

Game Summary For

Nashua Red Cobras (0) vs. Classics JV (2)

For the first round of the tournament, the Cobras were matched up with the Bedford Classics. This was their 3rd meeting of the season and by far the Cobras best showing against the Classics.

Although the Cobras did not score in this game, they played well, showed some good teamwork and played excellent defense.

The play of the game was probably the stellar save made by Jonathan. He was towards the left side of the net when a shot came in and Adam attempted to clear it but deflected the ball right into the right side of the net. Jonathan dove to knock it down and with incredible effort managed to keep it out of the net.

After 2 classics goals, the final score was 0-2 in favor of the Classics.
