Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. Hampstead (2)

The Cobras opened their season in Stellos Stadium and played a very strong game against a very good Hampstead team in an overall even game with lots of back and forth down the very large field. These teams were very evenly matched today.

Hampstead went on top with an early goal when they managed to get past the Cobras defense for a breakaway. There was very little Josh could do the stop the shot.

The Cobras passing was generally first rate. They showed some very good playmaking with nice leading passes through Hampstead defenders. However, Hampstead's defenders were exceptionally fast and usually closed down the Cobras.

the Cobras tied the game when Ian took the ball from the right side across the left, cut in and sent an outside-of-the-foot shot to the right side past the keeper.

Connor had an excellent chance when he blew past the Hampstead defenders and drilled in a shot, but it hit the side netting.

Throughout the first half, Jonathan was outstanding on defense as sweeper. Denton and Vinnie also came up big a number of times on defense.

The second half continued in much the same way as the first half, with each team spending a few minutes in the other's half of the field and a lot of midfield battles.

Jonathan and Vinnie moved forward while Ian came back on defense. Jonathan, Vinnie and Colin each had a couple close chances at the Hampstead net.

Connor and Timmer had a wonderful give-and-go when Connor passed to Timmer and took off. Timmer returned the ball in a nice leading pass to Connor. The ball, Connor and the Hampstead keeper all came together at the same time and the keeper was fortunate enough to come up with the ball.

Later in the half, Timmer took a corner and sent in a fantastic ball that Colin managed to get a foot on, but couldn't put any power behind the shot and the Hampstead keeper scooped it up.

Timmer then had a nice break down the right side and sent in a great shot that everyone thought was in, but it hit the side netting. It was still a nice piece of work by Timmer though.

With only a minute left in the half Hampstead pressured hard and after a flurry of activity got off a soft header that went over Josh and into the net.

The Cobras attemped to mount a comeback in the last minute and came very close, but it wasn't to be. Excellent game overall.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (0) vs. Upper Valley Lightning (4)

On the rain soaked, wind swept and very cold fields of Mine Falls, the Cobras fell to a very strong Upper Valley Lightning team.

The rain definitely played a factor and did not favor the Cobras. While the Cobras did play well, all things considered, the Lightning were simply a better team.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (3) vs. MYA (8)

This was not one of the best games the Cobras have played...and against a team they should have handled easily.

MYA took an early 0-3 lead (two of which were nice header goals). Jonathan made his debut in net when he replaced Josh midway through the first half.

After MYA pick up their fourth goal, the Cobras got on the board when Erik threaded a pass through the MYA defense to a streaking Timmer who touched the ball through the MYA keepers legs.

MYA's next goal came on a long leading pass that led to a breakaway. Jonathan came racing out of the net, well past the 18-yard box, in an attempt to stop the player, bu the shot went in anyway.

The Cobras pick up their second goal when Timmer sent a cross in to Nick who headed the ball in.

MYA picked up 3 more goals before the Cobras managed their final goal when Ian set up Colin for a very nice goal.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (2) vs. Milford (4)

Another tough one for the Cobras, but they were in it the whole time. This game started out rather like a rec game on both sides...a little messy.

Milford got on the board first when one of their forwards snuck past the Cobras defense and put a shot past Josh.

The Cobras put up some good shots, particularly a couple nice long outside shots from Timmer.

After a couple close calls on shots from Timmer and Erik, the brother connection of Ian and Colin tied the game up. Ian got the ball up and snuck a pass of to Colin who nicely finished.

Josh came up with an outstanding save on a long shot as he jumped and punched the ball over the net.

Milford almost got extremely luck on a shot from their own end that bounced in front of Josh and just barely over the net. No one would have been able to save that one had it gone in.

In the second half Milford picked up 2 quick goals to take a 1-3 lead before Erik sent a high shot that went through the Milford keeper's hands and into the net.

Having come within a goal, the Cobras kept pressing, but with no luck. Milford picked up another goal to make the final score 2-4.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (3) vs. CLCF (1)

Another evenly matched game, but the Cobras came out on top with 3 second half goals. This was a pretty even game with most of the action taking place in midfield.

After giving up a very quick goal (header off a corner kick), Josh and the defense settled down and played very well. Vinnie, Ian, Jonathan and Nate played well on defense.

Early in the second half, Matt was taken down in the penalty area and the Cobras awarded a Penalty kick. Dan took the kick and calmly stuffed it past the keeper on the right side.

Late in the half, Jonathan pushed up from defense and drilled a shot in that deflected off the back of a CLCF defender and over the keeper.

A few minutes later (with little time left in the half), Dan squirted through the defense and, with a defender on his back, sent his shot to the far post, beating the keeper and setting the final score at 3-1.

Memorial Day Tournament
Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (4) vs. Groton (3)

A true nailbiter. This is what a playoff game should be - even all the way through the game with good chances from both sides and excellent goalkeeping. The Cobras did play a solid game, but lack of finishing kept the ball out of the Groton net.

A 0-0 tie at the end of regulation and at the end of both 5 minute overtimes, the game went to penalty kicks. Not the best way to determine the better team, but this is what it came to. Josh stopped 2 of the first 5 PK's from Groton and the Cobras found the back of the net on 4 of their kicks, thus winning the game.

Denton had the most interesting of the PK's - he mis-hit the ball causing it to dribble along the ground to the right side. The Groton keeper guessed the other side and dove for the ball. He landed so far out of position that the ball just rolled over the line.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (3) vs. Milford (0)

A team the Cobras should have taken in their first meeting. This time the Cobras were ready and Josh picked up his first shutout.

It was mostly the Cobras early in the first half. Not many shots were had, but the Cobras kept most of the posession.

Sebastian picked up his first goal of the year, stuffing in a cross from Erik, made after bringing the ball up the right side and dodging around a Milford defender to get into the box in order to send in the cross.

In the second half, the Cobras kept up the pressure, but Milford had a couple more chances than in the first half.

Colin picked up the second goal after Jonathan fed him a perfect long pass through 2 defenders. Colin went streaking towards the goal. As the keeper came out, Colin calmly put the ball low to the left side to easily beat the keeper and put the cobras up 2-0.

Josh R picked up the third goal later in the half on an unusual shot that found the keep way, way out of position. Ian claimed it was all planned...Josh moving slowly to the ball to lull the keeper into thinking he wouldn't take it. The keeper came way out after the ball, Josh rushed, kicked it and everyone watched...and watched...and watched. Though limited in power, there was noone anywhere near the ball and the shot was well placed to the far post. It rolled in for the third goal of the game.
