Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (4) vs. NSC (1)

The Cobras started the season off with a bang in a 4-1 trouncing of NSC. Josh spent the entire game in net making 6 saves and only letting in 1 goal.

NSC got on the board first when the Cobras defense went quiet for a moment and let an NSC forward through for a 1-on-1 with Josh.

Later in the half, Ryan was chasing down a long ball into the goal area when the NSC keeper picked up the ball and threw an elbow at Ryan. A foul in the box was called and Ryan took the resulting penalty kick, converted well and tied the game.

The Cobras chances were few and far between in the first half, but not for the lack of effort and Timmer, Erick and Brett worked hard up front.

In the second half the Cobras looked much better. Bobby sent a good leading pass to Erik who out ran the defender, pulled the keeper to the left and touched the ball into the right side of the net, making it look easy.

Midway through the half, Erick sent in a curving ball from near the end line that somehow managed to get between the near post and the keeper (to the astonishment of the parents). This put the Cobras up 3-1.

With only a couple minutes left in the game, the Cobras pushed a number of players into the box. Someone shot and the NSC keepers wasn't able to hold the ball. Feet were flying everywhere when Erick got a foot on the ball and it went to Ryan who knocked it in for his second of the game. This put the Cobras up 4-1.

Newcomers Erick, Craig, Brett, Kyle, Andrew, Josh E, and Stephen all put in good games for their first outing with the Cobras.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. Bedford (0)

Bedford always seems to give the Cobras fits, but not today. The Cobras owned the game, with the defense holding strong (particularly Stephen who had a great game) giving Josh a shutout in net. Josh had a number of saves and was well positioned for the few shots Bedford did manage.

Midfield was strong, with Charlie and Ian pushing up a lot from defense. Colin, Brett, Bryan, Kyle (hustling everywhere) and Josh R worked tirelessly.

Shots, however, seemed to be at a premium with the Cobras holding the ball well into the box on a number of occasions. Erik and Timmer both had a few nice crosses from the wings which entirely escaped the Bedford keeper, but often went past everyone on both teams as well.

Erick picked up the lone goal (unassisted) for the Cobras, his second on the season.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (0) vs. ConVal (0)

ConVal...a team that gave the Cobras lots of trouble indoors, but much less so outdoors. And such a small field ConVal had. The boys looked bunched up more often than not, but it was often attributable to the field size.

Josh spent the first half in net and notched 3 saves in a mostly quiet half. The Cobras controlled much of the action throughout the game, but more so in the first half. JT, Ian, Charlie, Bobby and Nate were stellar on defense.

The Cobras had a few good chances in the first half, but weren't able to capitalize.

In the second half, JT went into net and his roaming style suited the tiring Cobras defense well as he stopped 2 breakaways. He saw far more action than Josh had in the first half.

Passing was good by the Cobras, but the small, rocky and pitted field, did them no favors.

Late in the game, the Cobras pressured quite a bit, but the ConVal keeper did a good job keeping the ball out of his net. Two excellent shots from Josh E (one just barely over the top of the crossbar and one line drive to the side of the keeper) were nice to see. Craig and Timmer were hustling up the sides and Erik pushing up the middle.

In the end, while the Cobras controlled most of the game, it was 0-0 tie.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (7) vs. Mavericks (1)

Only a minute into the game Erick took a pass from Ian and from just outside the 18 sent in a soft chip that made it over the Hudson keeper's head and into the net.

Just a few minutes later, newcomer Titus squeezed an angled shot low on the ground past the keeper and into the net at the far post. At this point Hudson switched keepers.

Craig put the Cobras up 3-0 with a nice shot, beating the keeper with a defender on his back.

In the second half the Cobras had 3 corners in a row from Erik, Timmer and Bobby. All were very well take and the keeper got a hand on each one. But, on the third one the ball remained in the box and Charlie knowcked it in to put the Cobras up 4-0.

Erik was fed the ball and took it deep to almost the Hudson end-line and set a great cross to Erick who put the ball into the back of the net, but was, apparently, a toe offside so the goal was disallowed.

Hudson's only goal came from a defensive breakdown for the Cobras and let a Hudson player in alone against Jonathan who came off his line and made a brilliant kick save to stop the ball, but the Cobras couldn't clear it and the rebound shot made it into the net.

The Cobras then picked up 3 goals, all on well setup breakaway's. The first came when Erik sent a long pass from midfield to Craig on the right side. Craig one touched a long high pass to a streaking Bryan who finished nicely.

The second was another excellent long pass from Craig up to Ryan in the center. Ryan picked his spot and beat the keeper.

Hudson's defense woes continued on the third when Ian took a nice leading pass from Erick and Ian finished nicely to put the Cobras up 7-1.

Jonathan held strong in net all game, stopping a couple potential breakaways by coming off his line and making good clearances. He picked up 4 saves on 8 shots.

It was a solid game for the Cobras with 7 different boys scoring and numerous good assists. The Cobras had 23 shots to Hudson's 8.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (2) vs. World Cup (1)

The Cobras first meeting with World Cup, whom they will see in a few weeks during the regular season.

The first half went along well with the sides mostly even, but the Cobras somewhat of an advantage. Ryan spent the game in net and performed very well.

The Cobras went on top with an early goal from Craig who continues to impress everyone with his skill and tenacity. The Cobras picked up a second goal in an unusual manner when Bobby took a nice shot from near the top of the 18. It was cleared by a World Cup defender, hit Josh E's back and went into the net.

Up 2-0 in the second half, things started to get a little ugly. World Cup stepped it up a notch with some rather rough play and picked up 2 well deserved yellow cards in the process.

After a foul in the Cobras box, World Cup was awarded a PK whick was drilled well over the net.

Late in the game World Cup managed a goal after the ball ping ponged around the box and no one could get a foot on it, but the Cobras prevailed with a 2-1 victory.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (1) vs. Bedford (0)

In a game that pretty much mirrored the regular season meeting between these 2 teams, the Cobras pulled out a 1-0 victory.

The action was back and forth, but Ryan didn't have to make too many big saves, but his charging the edge of the box was crucial in stopping a few Bedford chances.

The lone goal came from Brett, his first for the Cobras. Early in the second half, Erik fed a pass to Matt on the right and Matt sent an angled pass to the left, through the Bedford defense and Brett was there to knock it into the net.

The Cobras kept up the pressure for most of the rest of the game, but Bedford seriously turned up the heat in the last 5 minutes, all but camping out in the area around the Cobras 18 yard box.

Aside from Brett's goal, only Josh E and Erik had solid shots on net. Josh had 2 very nice shots on net while Erik's was a sinking line drive, dipping under the crossbar that the Bedford keeper just managed to push over the net.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (2) vs. Addison (3)

The best competition the Cobras faced in the tournament came from Addison, a Premier team from Vermont. They were very well skilled.

The Cobras opened the scoring (with the only goal of the first half) when Erik pushed through a couple defenders into the box and was tripped. Erik took the resulting PK and drilled it past the keeper.

Addison picked up 2 good goals in the second half, one coming on a defensive clearance that didn't make it out of the box and came screaming back into the net with little Ryan could have done with it.

Down 1-2, the Cobras fought back with another goal when Timmer picked up his first of the season, knocking in a pass from the right side from Nate (who had a superb tournament).

Addison kept the Cobras defense and Ryan very busy with numerous shots and chances. Ryan performed very well, on a couple occasions having to chase wingers down the side of the box. The final goal came on a defensive clearance that didn't make it outside the 18 yard box. The returned shot was a rocket. Ryan dove to his left, horizontal and fully stretched and managed to get his hands on the ball, but it still made it into the net. An excellent effort by Ryan.

In the end, an excellent game from the Cobras against a very good opponent. With this being the final game and the championship game, the Cobras received their second place trophies following the game.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (4) vs. World Cup (1)

The boys looked strong today, coming off an unfortunate loss to NSC. They played fair and hard and took the game away from World Cup early on.

Craig spent the first half in net, his first time for the Cobras and he performed well. He had 2 saved on 2 shots. The Cobras defense did a good job of keeping the ball out of their end of the field in the first half.

Ian picked up the first goal on a nice feed from Bryan. The second goal was a minor scrum in front of the net. Timmer sent in a cross that Bryan his off the keepr and Erik stuffed the rebound into the net.

Erick picked up the third goal as Titus sent him the ball from the corner to the middle of the left side of the 18 yard box and Erick courled a nice shot into the net.

Ryan spent the second half in net and was far busier than Craig was in the first half. He had 5 saves on 9 shots. The only goal he let in was on a PK (accidental handball in the box that prevented a goal).

The Cobras final came on an Erick corner that Timmer headed brilliantly into the net.

Game Summary for

Nashua Cobras (8) vs. Mavericks(0)

Hudson started with only 10 players and lost one in the second half due to an injury. Unfortunately, it was like shooting fish in a barrel. The Cobras outshot Hudson 35-4. While the Hudson keeper made some excellent saves on point blank shots (actually some poor shot selection from some of the Cobras), with 35 shots, your bound to get scored on.

Erik, Bobby, Charlie (2), Josh E, Bryan (2) and Craig all picked up goals while Timmer, Josh E, Brett and Ryan had assists.

The Cobras owned the game from start to finish, but Hudson has had a long and painful season and you could see it in much of their play. You had to feel for them, especially playing 2 men down.

The Cobras finish the regular season 5-2-1 and move on to the Open Cup.
