Form 7
Some preliminary notes on form 7. It's mostly Parker Kenpo techniques with alterations and variants. This form is run with a stick in each hand. Some strike names are referenced in the
Basic Stick Strikes section of the Sticks and Knives page.

OPENING

  1. From an attention stance, holding both sticks in front of you in your left hand with your right arm out to your right side, elbow bent at 90 degrees, fist up, palm forward.
  2. Step forward with your right foot into a right front twist stance as your right hand comes forward to meet left hand.
  3. Left foot steps forward into left cat stance while extending your arms and taking one stick with your right hand.
  4. With your hands together, point the bottom ends of both sticks toward your chest as your left foot steps back, then your right foot steps back, feet together.
  5. While stepping to left into horse stance, circle the sticks outward to each side and up over your head creating a triangle with the tips of the sticks.
  6. As you slowly moves the sticks down, cross them then bring them into your chest then circle them up, out and down as you slide your left foot over to your right foot into an attention stance with the sticks crossed in front of your legs.
SET 1: Five Storms
  1. As the 12:00 attacker steps through with a right kick and a right punch, step back with your left foot into a right neutral bow while doing a left downward block and a right inward block using the sticks.
  2. Do a right diagonal cut across attackers neck (drawing your right hand back to your right hip) followed by a left horizontal thrust to attackers chest (drawing your left hand to closed high position) and a right horizontal thrust to attackers solar plexus.
  3. As you step back slightly to 4:30 with your left foot, do a left diagonal cut across the left side of attackers neck as you move your right stick to open high position.
  4. As you do a right front crossover to 9:00, do a right diagonal cut to attackers head.
SET 2: Five Storms
  1. As the 12:00 attacker steps through with a left kick and a left punch, step to 9:00 with your left foot then immediately back with your right foot into a left neutral bow while doing a right downward block and a left inward block using the sticks.
  2. Do a left diagonal cut across attackers neck (drawing your left hand back to your left hip) followed by a right horizontal thrust to attackers chest (drawing your right hand to closed high position) and a left horizontal thrust to attackers solar plexus.
  3. As you step back slightly to 4:30 with your right foot, do a right diagonal cut across the right side of attackers neck as you move your left stick to open high position.
  4. As you do a left front crossover to 9:00, do a left diagonal cut to attackers head.
SET 3: Reversing Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker steps through with a left punch, step to 3:00 with your right foot then immediately back with your left foot into a right neutral bow while doing a right inward parry with your right stick followed by a left outward parry with your left stick as your right stick circles from the first parry into a right horizontal cut to attackers solar plexus.
  2. Circle your right stick counter clockwise to strike down and check on top of attackers arms and do a left horizontal thrusting cut to attackers face.
  3. Turn your left strike clockwise to check attackers left arm as you do a right front crossover to 9:00 with a right diagonal cut to attackers head.
SET 4: Reversing Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker steps through with a right punch, step to 9:00 with your left foot then immediately back with your right foot into a left neutral bow while doing a left inward parry with your left stick followed by a right outward parry with your right stick as your left stick circles from the first parry into a left horizontal cut to attackers solar plexus.
  2. Circle your left stick clockwise to strike down and check on top of attackers arms and do a right horizontal thrusting cut to attackers face.
  3. Turn your right strike counter clockwise to check attackers right arm as you do a left front crossover to 3:00 with a left diagonal cut to attackers head.
SET 5: Repeating Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker does a left push/punch, tightly circle your left stick counter clockwise into a left outward block on the push/punch as your step out of the twist with your right foot (to 1:30).
  2. As you step back with your left foot into a right neutral bow and with your right stick in middle open position, do a right horizontal cut to attackers kidney followed (now from middle closed position) by a right horizontal cut to attackers solar plexus.
  3. Circle your right stick counter clockwise to strike down and check on top of attackers arms and do a left horizontal thrusting cut to attackers face.
  4. As you draw your left stick back, checking attackers arms, do a right horizontal thrusting cut to attackers face that goes past the face circling into a strike to attackers left kidney.
  5. As the kidney strike comes through, do a right front crossover to 9:00 checking low with your left stick and high (on attackers arms) with your right stick.
SET 6: Repeating Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker does a right push/punch, tightly circle your right stick clockwise into a right outward block on the push/punch as your step out of the twist with your left foot (to 10:30).
  2. As you step back with your right foot into a left neutral bow and with your left stick in middle open position, do a left horizontal cut to attackers kidney followed (now from middle closed position) by a left horizontal cut to attackers solar plexus.
  3. Circle your left stick counter clockwise to strike down and check on top of attackers arms and do a right horizontal thrusting cut to attackers face.
  4. As you draw your right stick back, checking attackers arms, do a left horizontal thrusting cut to attackers face that goes past the face circling into a strike to attackers right kidney.
  5. As the kidney strike comes through, do a left front crossover to 9:00 checking low with your right stick and high (on attackers arms) with your left stick.
SET 7: Clashing Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker steps through with a right kick and a right punch, step back with your right foot into a left neutral bow while doing a right downward block and a left inward block using the sticks.
  2. As you step thru forward into a right neutral bow (in tight on attacker), strike attacker in the face with your left stick and swing your right stick down past your right leg and up to hit the attacker in the back of the head (with the stick tip). In the air, your sticks connect.
  3. Step to 10:30 with your left foot while tightly circling your left stick to strike across and through attackers head. Continue this motion as you step (right leg behind left) to 10:30 with your right foot while doing a left horizontal cut to attackers head.
  4. You are now in a left neutral bow facing (roughly) 4:30. Slide your left stick down to check attackers right arm as your left stick moves to open high position. Slide your right leg behind your left into a right rear twist stance while doing a right diagonal cut to attackers face/neck.
SET 8: Clashing Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker steps through with a left kick and a left punch, step back with your left foot into a right neutral bow while doing a left downward block and a right inward block using the sticks.
  2. As you step thru forward into a left neutral bow (in tight on attacker), strike attacker in the face with your right stick and swing your left stick down past your left leg and up to hit the attacker in the back of the head (with the stick tip). In the air, your sticks connect.
  3. Step to 4:30 with your right foot while tightly circling your right stick to strike across and through attackers head. Continue this motion as you step (left leg behind right) to 10:30 with your left foot while doing a right horizontal cut to attackers head.
  4. You are now in a right neutral bow facing (roughly) 1:30. Slide your right stick down to check attackers left arm as your right stick moves to open high position. Slide your left leg behind your right into a left rear twist stance while doing a left diagonal cut to attackers face/neck.
SET 9: Gathering Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker steps through with a right punch, step out to 10:30 with your left foot (reversing the direction of that foot from when your moved into the rear twist stance) while doing a left inward block with your left stick with a right horizontal cut through attackers solar plexus.
  2. Immediately return (from middle closed position) with a right horizontal cut to attackers floating ribs.
  3. As you move you left stick to open high position, tightly circle your right stick clockwise into an outward block/check on attackers right arm and torque into a left diagonal cut to attackers kidney.
  4. Circle your left stick clockwise to strike down and check on top of attackers right arm and do a right horizontal thrusting cut to attackers face.
  5. Turn your right strike counter clockwise to check attackers right arm as you slide your left foot to 3:00 in front of your right foot into a left front twist stance while doing a left diagonal cut to attackers head.
SET 10: Gathering Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker steps through with a left punch, step out to 1:30 with your right foot while doing a right inward block with your right stick with a left horizontal cut through attackers solar plexus.
  2. Immediately return (from middle closed position) with a left horizontal cut to attackers floating ribs.
  3. As you move you right stick to open high position, tightly circle your left stick counter clockwise into an outward block/check on attackers left arm and torque into a right diagonal cut to attackers kidney.
  4. Circle your right stick counter clockwise to strike down and check on top of attackers left arm and do a left horizontal thrusting cut to attackers face.
  5. Turn your left strike clockwise to check attackers left arm as you slide your right foot to 3:00 in front of your left foot into a right front twist stance while doing a right diagonal cut to attackers head.
SET 11: Flashing Storm
  1. As the 9:00 attacker steps through with a right punch, step to 9:00 with your left foot while doing a left inward block on attackers elbow as your right stick circles under their arm and snaps back towards you to break their elbow.
  2. Slide your right foot past your left foot to 9:00 into a transitional right front twist stance as you check attackers upper arm down with your left stick and do a right horizontal cut to attackers face with your right stick.
  3. Unwind counter clockwise into a left neutral bow facing roughly 3:00 with your right stick checking high at arm level and your left stick checking low at hip level (both sticks actually strike as well as check).
  4. Check down on attackers right arm with your right stick and immediately do the same with your left stick. Circle and snap your right stick in front of attacker then back towards you, striking attacker in the head.
  5. Continue this motion as you step through reverse with your left foot into a right neutral bow facing 3:00 while doing a right diagonal cut to attackers head.
SET 12: Flashing Storm
  1. As the 3:00 attacker steps through with a left punch, step to 3:00 with your right foot while doing a right inward block on attackers elbow as your left stick circles under their arm and snaps back towards you to break their elbow.
  2. Slide your left foot past your right foot to 3:00 into a transitional left front twist stance as you check attackers upper arm down with your right stick and do a left horizontal cut to attackers face with your left stick.
  3. Unwind clockwise into a right neutral bow facing roughly 9:00 with your left stick checking high at arm level and your right stick checking low at hip level (both sticks actually strike as well as check).
  4. Check down on attackers left arm with your left stick and immediately do the same with your right stick. Circle and snap your left stick in front of attacker then back towards you, striking attacker in the head.
  5. Continue this motion as you step through reverse with your right foot into a left neutral bow facing 3:00 while doing a left diagonal cut to attackers head.
SET 13: Whirling Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker steps through with a left punch, step back to 6:00 with your left foot into a right neutral bow facing 12:00 while doing a right inward parry with your right stick followed by a left outward parry with your left stick.
  2. Your right stick circles from the first parry into a right diagonal cut through attackers left knee around attackers back, striking them through the back of the head (your right palm is facing away from you), continuing down to check attackers left arm.
  3. Do a left horizontal cut to attackers face with your left stick and immediately draw it back to check attackers arms against their body.
  4. Reverse the motion of your right stick with a horizontal cut through attackers face, around their back and through the back of their left knee.
  5. As the strike comes through attackers knee, slide your right foot to 9:00 in front of your left foot into a right front twist stance and end with your left stick checking low and your right stick checking on attackers left arm.
SET 14: Whirling Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker steps through with a right punch, step back to 6:00 with your right foot into a left neutral bow facing 12:00 while doing a left inward parry with your left stick followed by a right outward parry with your right stick.
  2. Your left stick circles from the first parry into a left diagonal cut through attackers right knee around attackers back, striking them through the back of the head (your left palm is facing away from you), continuing down to check attackers right arm.
  3. Do a right horizontal cut to attackers face with your right stick and immediately draw it back to check attackers arms against their body.
  4. Reverse the motion of your left stick with a horizontal cut through attackers face, around their back and through the back of their right knee.
  5. As the strike comes through attackers knee, slide your left foot to 3:00 in front of your right foot into a left front twist stance and end with your right stick checking low and your left stick checking on attackers right arm.
SET 15: Destructive Storm
  1. As the 9:00 attacker steps through with a right punch, step out to 9:00 with your left foot while doing a right outward parry with your right stick followed by a left inward parry with your left stick.
  2. Continue the circular motion from the right outward parry into a right horizontal cut through attackers solar plexus.
  3. Your arms are crossed now. Thrust forward to scissor attackers head/neck with your sticks them immediately do a left thrusting sweep towards 3:00 to attackers right leg, ending in a transitional left front twist stance.
  4. Immediately unwind clockwise from the twist, thrusting your right leg back to 3:00, further sweeping attackers right leg striking. As you plant, check high with your left stick and low with your right stick. You are now in a left neutral bow facing 9:00.
  5. Tightly circle your left stick to check down on attackers right arm and do a left step thru ball snap kick to attackers left leg with a right horizontal thrusting cut to attackers face.
  6. Upon landing, turn counter clockwise and step thru reverse (left leg back to 9:00) finishing with a left high strike/check to head level and a right low strike/check to back level.
SET 16: Destructive Storm
  1. As the 9:00 attacker steps through with a left punch, step back with your left foot while doing a left outward parry with your left stick followed by a right inward parry with your right stick.
  2. Continue the circular motion from the left outward parry into a left horizontal cut through attackers solar plexus.
  3. Your arms are crossed now. Thrust forward to scissor attackers head/neck with your sticks them immediately do a right thrusting sweep towards 3:00 to attackers left leg, ending in a transitional right front twist stance.
  4. Immediately unwind clockwise from the twist, thrusting your left leg back to 3:00, further sweeping attackers left leg striking. As you plant, check high with your right stick and low with your left stick. You are now in a right neutral bow facing 9:00.
  5. Tightly circle your right stick to check down on attackers left arm and do a right step thru ball snap kick to attackers right leg with a left horizontal thrusting cut to attackers face.
  6. Upon landing, turn counter clockwise and step thru reverse (right leg back to 9:00) finishing with a right high strike/check to head level and a left low strike/check to back level.
SET 17: Shield and Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker steps through with a right punch, step to 10:00 with your left foot into a left neutral bow facing 12:00 while doing a right outward block with your right stick followed by a left horizontal cut to attackers right kidney.
  2. Tightly circle your left stick clockwise to check attackers right arm as you do a right horizontal thrusting cut to attackers face.
  3. As you circle your left stick clockwise (down, around and back up) to check by attackers face, strike down with your right stick on attackers right kidney.
  4. Reverse the motion of your hands (turning them outward), with limited arm movement, so that your left stick strikes the back of attackers right knee and your right stick flips up to check attackers right arm.
