Form 5
This is a technique form showing all takedown techniques, i.e. in each technique, you take the attackers to the ground in some fashion. Much like Form 4, many of the attacks come from the side or behind you. Although, in the case of this form, that's part of how the some of the techniques work whereas in Form 4, we were stuck in bad positions. This form is also often called the Fulcrum Form because many of the techniques show fine examples of the use of the fulcrum concept to take attackers to the ground.

This form opens, as do the other forms, with the Salutation but we start the form just before the Salutation ends...at the praying hands part.

SET 1: Destructive Fans

  1. As attacker throws a right punch from 9:00, step back slightly to 7:30 with your left foot while doing a right outward parry followed by a left inward parry and a right inward hammerfist to attackers hip.
  2. Slide your left foot in front of your right foot into a front twist stance (sweeping attacker) while doing a right overhead claw to attackers face.
  3. Unwind clockwise from the twist and step-thru reverse with your right foot while doing a left low inward block and a right thrust punch (aimed low). You are now in a left forward bow facing 9:00.
SET 2: Destructive Fans
  1. As the 3:00 attacker throws a left punch, step back slightly to 4:30 with your right foot as you do a left outward parry followed by a right Inward Parry and a left inward hammerfist to attackers hip.
  2. Slide your right foot in front of your left foot into a front twist stance (sweeping attacker) while doing a left overhead claw to attackers face.
  3. Unwind counter-clockwise from the twist and step-thru reverse with your let foot while doing a right low inward block and a left thrust punch (aimed low). You are now in a right forward bow facing 3:00.
SET 3: Dance Of Death
  1. As the 12:00 attacker throws a right kick followed by a right punch, slide your right foot up to your left foot as you do a left downward block on the kick. Immediately slide your right foot back to 6:00 as you do a left inward parry on the punch followed by a right ridge hand to the groin as you turn into a left forward bow.
  2. As you step to 12:00 with your right foot, do a right inward elbow as you grab and lift attackers right leg with your left hand to knock them onto their back.
  3. Do a right outward back knuckle to attackers left leg followed by (continue the counter clockwise circle of your right hand) a right downward handsword to attackers groin. Both strikes are done to the outside of your right leg.
  4. With both hands, grab attackers foot (near your left shoulder) and twist the foot clockwise to flip attacker over.
  5. As attacker lands on their stomach, stomp on their spine with your left foot as you step over them (towards 3:00).
  6. Pivot counter clockwise into a left close kneel stance as you do a right handsword to the back of attacker neck.
  7. Rise up, lift your right foot high, stomp it down on attackers spine and step to the other side of attacker (to 9:00) with your left foot.
  8. As you plant your left foot, do a right side kick (aimed at the ground) to attackers ribs while your hands stretch out high in the opposite direction.
  9. Following the kick, plant your right foot to 10:30 and turn counter clockwise to face 6:00 in a left neutral bow.
SET 4: Dance Of Death
  1. As the 6:00 attacker throws a left kick followed by a left punch, step back to 12:00 with your left foot as you do a right downward block on the kick. Do a right inward block on the punch followed by a left ridge hand to the groin as you turn into a right forward bow.
  2. As you step to 7:30 with your left foot, do a left inward elbow as you grab and lift attackers left leg with your right hand to knock them onto their back.
  3. Do a left outward back knuckle to attackers right leg followed by (continue the clockwise circle of your left hand) a left downward handsword to attackers groin. Both strikes are done to the outside of your left leg.
  4. With both hands, grab attackers foot (near your right shoulder) and twist the foot counter clockwise to flip attacker over.
  5. As attacker lands on their stomach, stomp on their spine with your right foot as you step over them (towards 3:00).
  6. Pivot clockwise into a right close kneel stance as you do a left handsword to the back of attacker neck.
  7. Rise up, lift your left foot high, stomp it down on attackers spine and step to the other side of attacker (to 9:00) with your right foot.
  8. As you plant your left foot, do a left side kick (aimed at the ground) to attackers ribs while your hands stretch out high in the opposite direction.
  9. Following the kick, plant your right foot to 7:30 into a transitional front twist stance.
SET 5: Leap Of Death
  1. As the 9:00 attacker throws a right punch, unwind (clockwise) from the twist stance while doing a right outward parry to deflect the punch. Convert the parry into a right grab on attackers wrist.
  2. Push-drag towards 3:00 into a right close kneel stance facing 4:30 with your left knee buckling attackers right knee while doing a left upward heel palm to attackers right elbow (that misses) followed by a left back knuckle to attackers ribs.
  3. Drive your left elbow up into attackers armpit and push down as you pull up on their wrist with your right hand. This will drop them, face first, to the ground towards 3:00.
  4. Leap onto attackers back, scraping your heels down the sides of attackers ribcage. Squat down into a diamond stance while doing a double heel palm strikes to the back of attackers head, driving their face into the ground.
  5. As you wrap your hands around the front of attackers head and pull their head back, turn your knees in, into a concave stance. Draw your right hand back, maintaining your hold on attackers head with your left hand, and do a right inward hand sword to attackers face.
  6. Turn to your right as you drive your left knee into the middle of attackers back while doing a left heel palm to the back of attackers head.
  7. As you stand up, step across attackers body with your left foot and do a right side kick to attackers head, planting your right foot to 9:30 and stepping back to 7:30 with your left foot.
SET 6: Leap Of Death
  1. As the 3:00 attacker throws a left punch, do a left outward parry to deflect the punch. Convert the parry into a left grab on attackers wrist.
  2. Push-drag towards 9:00 into a left close kneel stance facing 7:30 with your right knee buckling attackers left knee while doing a right upward heel palm to attackers left elbow (that misses) followed by a right back knuckle to attackers ribs.
  3. Drive your right elbow up into attackers armpit and push down as you pull up on their wrist with your left hand. This will drop them, face first, to the ground towards 9:00.
  4. Leap onto attackers back, scraping your heels down the sides of attackers ribcage. Squat down into a diamond stance while doing a double heel palm strikes to the back of attackers head, driving their face into the ground.

  7. As you stand up, step across attackers body with your right foot and do a left side kick to attackers head, planting your left foot to 1:30 in a transitional front twist stance.
  8. Step out of the twist with your right foot doing a right stomp to 3:00. You are now in a modified left reverse bow (body facing 9:00, head facing 3:00).
  9. Step through reverse with your left foot into a transitional left neutral bow facing 3:00, stomping attackers ankle.
SET 7: Backbreaker
  1. As the 4:30 attacker throws a right punch, step to 4:30 with your right foot while doing a left inward parry followed by a right outward parry to deflect the punch.
  2. As you slide your right foot all the way back to 4:30 (clockwise) into a left neutral bow facing 10:30, do a right eye hook to attackers right eye and grab onto both of attackers shoulders.
  3. Immediately after planting your right foot, do a right knee to the back of attackers spine and plant back to 4:30 into a left forward bow and pulling attacker down onto your left knee.
  4. As your left hand holds attackers head, do a right heel palm across attackers face followed by a right heel palm claw, raking back towards you.
  5. Raise both hands high above your head and drive double back knuckles down across attackers collarbones.
  6. From the previous strike, circle your hands up and, as you step back to 4:30 with your left foot, drive your hands back down into double heel palm claws to attackers chest and face.
  7. Torque clockwise into a right rotating twist stance as you pack your hands onto your right hip.
  8. Step out of the twist with your left foot doing a right stomp to 9:00. You are now in a modified right reverse bow (body facing 3:00, head facing 9:00).
  9. Step through reverse with your right foot into a transitional right neutral bow facing 9:00, stomping attackers ankle.
SET 8: Backbreaker
  1. As the 7:30 attackers throws a left punch, step thru to 7:30 with your right foot while doing a right inward parry followed by a left outward parry to deflect the punch.
  2. As you slide your left foot all the way back to 7:30 (counter clockwise) into a right neutral bow facing 1:30, do a right eye hook to attackers right eye and grab onto both of attackers shoulders.
  3. Immediately after planting your left foot, do a left knee to the back of attackers spine and plant back to 7:30 in a right forward bow and pulling attacker down onto your right knee.
  4. As your right hand holds attackers head, do a left heel palm across attackers face followed by a left heel palm claw, raking back towards you.
  5. Raise both hands high above your head and drive double back knuckles down across attackers collarbones.
  6. From the previous strike, circle your hands up and, as you step back to 7:30 with your left foot, drive your hands back down into double heel palm claws to attackers chest and face.
SET 9: Hopping Crane
  1. Pack you hands at your left hip as you step to 3:00 with your left foot into a transitional left front twist stance.
  2. Step out of the twist (to 12:00) with a right stomp to 12:00 and hop once on your right foot (forward).
  3. Plant your left foot to 10:00 and do a right sweep to 10:30 followed by a right low side kick to 4:30.
SET 10: Hopping Crane
  1. Pack you hands at your right hip as you step to 9:00 with your right foot into a transitional right front twist stance.
  2. Step out of the twist (to 12:00) with a left stomp to 12:00 and hop once on your left foot (forward).
  3. Plant your right foot to 2:00 and do a left sweep to 1:30 followed by a left low side kick to 7:30.
SET 11: Sleeper
  1. Rotate clockwise in place into a right cat stance facing 6:00 with your left hand sword straight out in front of you, chest high and your right hand sword low in line with, and above, your right leg.
  2. As the 6:00 attacker throws a right punch, drop your right heel down and step through with your left foot into a left neutral bow facing 6:00 while doing a left inward block.
  3. As you slide your right foot up to your left into a left close kneel stance, do a right ridge hand (in the form the ridge hand meets the block) at face level and step behind attacker with your right foot.
  4. Slide your left foot (counter clockwise) around your right foot into a right neutral bow facing 12:00 while doing a left outward (left to right) claw to the face with a right downward back knuckle followed by a left pushdown block as you move into a right forward bow facing 12:00.
SET 12: Sleeper
  1. Step thru reverse into a left neutral bow.
  2. Slide your left back into a left cat stance facing 12:00 with your right hand sword straight out in front of you, chest high and your left hand sword low in line with, and above, your left leg.
  3. As the 12:00 attacker throws a left punch, drop your left heel down and step through with your right foot into a right neutral bow facing 12:00 while doing a right inward block.
  4. As you slide your left foot up to your right into a right close kneel stance, do a left ridge hand (in the form the ridge hand meets the block) at face level and step behind attacker wih yourth ouryour left foot.
  5. Slide your right foot (clockwise) around your left foot into a left neutral bow facing 6:00 while doing a right outward (right to left) claw to the face with a left downward back knuckle followed by a right pushdown block as you move into a left forward bow facing 6:00.
SET 13: Brushing The Storm
  1. As the 6:00 attacker throws a right overhead club, step thru forward into a right high wide kneel while doing a left inward parry in the club and a right heel palm to attackers face.
  2. Sink into your stance while doing a right upward elbow to attackers ribs.
  3. While stepping to 6:00 with your left foot, do a right heel palm to attackers groin (keep your hand on attackers body from the elbow through the heel palm).
  4. While stepping back to 4:30 with your right leg into a left forward bow facing 10:30, slide your right hand down attackers thigh, grab and lift their leg while doing a left inward elbow to their kidney to knock them forward.
  5. Do a left front scoop kick to attackers groin, landing your left foot back to 6:00 in a right Neutral Bow facing 12:00.
SET 14: Brushing The Storm
  1. As the 12:00 attacker throws a left overhead club, step up with your left foot to 12:00 into a left high wide kneel while doing a right inward parry in the club and a left heel palm to attackers face.
  2. Sink into your stance while doing a right upward elbow to attackers ribs.
  3. While stepping to 12:00 with your right foot, do a left heel palm to attackers groin (keep your hand on attackers body from the elbow through the heel palm).
  4. While stepping back to 1:30 with your left leg into a right forward bow facing 7:30, slide your left hand down attackers thigh, grab and lift their leg while doing a right inward elbow to their kidney to knock them forward.
  5. Do a right front scoop kick to attackers groin, landing your right foot back to 1:30 in a modified left Neutral Bow facing 9:00.
SET 15: Falling Falcon
  1. As the 9:00 attackers does a right handed push onto your left shoulder, pin attackers hand against your upper chest with your left hand as you step forward into a modified right Neutral Bow to 9:00 while doing a right Upward Elbow into attackers shoulder.
  2. Immediately turn counter clockwise into a left Forward Bow facing 3:00 while maintaining the pin with your left and and pushing with your right elbow to take attackers down.
  3. Grab the back side of attackers right wrist with your right hand (releasing your left hand) and turn it clockwise (exposing the elbow to 3:00) as you do a left Heel Palm to attackers elbow.
  4. Do a left knee to their elbow into a left Side Kick to the right side of attackers neck.
  5. Plant your left foot back to 1:30 as you grab the back side of attackers right wrist with your left hand (releasing your right hand) and turn it counter clockwise (exposing the elbow to 12:00) as you do a right Heel Palm to attackers elbow.
  6. Do a right glancing knee strike to attackers elbow, allowing your leg to pass attackers arm. Immediately drive your right leg back into a scraping heel kick to attackers kidney, up and down into a right retarded Ball Kick to attackers solar plexus, landing your right foot to 3:00 in a transitional right front twist stance. Unwind from the twist into a right Neutral Bow.
SET 16: Falling Falcon
  1. As the 3:00 attackers does a left handed push onto your right shoulder, pin attackers hand against your upper chest with your right hand as you step forward into a modified left Neutral Bow to 3:00 while doing a left Upward Elbow into attackers shoulder.
  2. Immediately turn clockwise into a right Forward Bow facing 9:00 while maintaining the pin with your right and and pushing with your left elbow to take attackers down.
  3. Grab the back side of attackers left wrist with your left hand (releasing your right hand) and turn it counter clockwise (exposing the elbow to 9:00) as you do a right Heel Palm to attackers elbow.
  4. Do a right knee to their elbow into a right Side Kick to the left side of attackers neck.
  5. Plant your right foot back to 1:30 as you grab the back side of attackers left wrist with your right hand (releasing your left hand) and turn it clockwise (exposing the elbow to 12:00) as you do a left Heel Palm to attackers elbow.
  6. Do a left glancing knee strike to attackers elbow, allowing your leg to pass attackers arm. Immediately drive your left leg back into a scraping heel kick to attackers kidney, up and down into a left retarded Ball Kick through attackers solar plexus, planting to 3:00. You are now in a left Neutral bow facing (toughly) 9:00.
SET 17: Circling The Horizon
  1. As the 12:00 attacker throws a right punch, rotate clockwise and slide your right foot back into a Cat Stance (facing 12:00 now) while doing a left Inward Block and a right Uppercut to attackers right temple.
  2. Step out with your right foot into a right Neutral Bow while doing a right Inward Elbow to attackers ribs.
  3. As you drop down onto your left knee, do a right handsword to the back of attackers right knee.
  4. From the handsword strike, circle your hand out to the right and back into attackers solar plexus. At the same time, thrust your right leg to the right, sweeping attacker.
  5. While still on your left knee, slide your right foot back, lift it up and do a right heel kick to attackers solar plexus.
  6. Stand up in a right Neutral Bow facing 12:00.
SET 18: Circling The Horizon
  1. As the 6:00 attacker throws a left punch, rotate counter clockwise and slide your left foot back into a Cat Stance while doing a right Inward Block and a left Uppercut to attackers left temple.
  2. Step out with your left foot into a left Neutral Bow while doing a left Inward Elbow to attackers ribs.
  3. As you drop down onto your right knee, do a left handsword to the back of attackers left knee.
  4. From the handsword strike, circle your hand out to the left and back into attackers solar plexus. At the same time, thrust your left leg to the left, sweeping attacker.
  5. While still on your right knee, slide your left foot back, lift it up and do a heel kick to attackers solar plexus.
SET 19: Leaping Crane
  1. As the 12:00 attacker throws a right punch, stand up leaping to your left into a left Crane stance while striking attackers forearm with your right Half Fist (low) as your left hand does an Inward Parry (high).
  2. Do a right Side Kick to the back of attackers right knee to buckle their leg.
  3. Do a right Back Knuckle to attackers kidney as you land from kick.
  4. Do a right Inward Elbow to attackers right mastoid and a left Inward Hand Sword to their left mastoid at the same time to sandwich attackers head.
  5. Wrap your right arm over attackers head, rip attackers head to the right and return with a right Inward Hand Sword to attackers face.
  6. Do a front Chicken Kick (right leg then left) landing in a left Neutral Bow facing 12:00.
SET 20: Leaping Crane
  1. As the 12:00 attacker throws a left punch, leap to your right into a right Crane stance while striking attackers forearm with your left Half Fist (low) as your right hand does an Inward Parry (high).
  2. Do a left Side Kick to the back of attackers left knee to buckle their leg.
  3. Do a left Back Knuckle to attackers kidney as you land from kick.
  4. Do a left Inward Elbow to attackers left mastoid and a right Inward Hand Sword to their right mastoid at the same time to sandwich attackers head.
  5. Wrap your left arm over attackers head, rip attackers head to the left and return with a left Inward Hand Sword to attackers face.
  6. Do a front Chicken Kick (left leg then right) landing in a right Neutral Bow facing 12:00.
CLOSING:
  1. Do a right Front Cross Over to 9:00 into a left Crane Stance as you bring your your right clenched fist, which is covered by your left open hand up near your left side.
  2. Pause for a second and bring your right leg down into a Horse Stance facing 12:00 and up to Attention Stance.
